They may not know about the other aspects, but I'm sure they know about the demand...its going to be high.

If you've ever studied economics, you know that knowing "demand" without "supply" is about as useful as knowing a girl is a "virgin" without knowing how attractive she is.

Knowing 'sie germans" they know exactly how much and when the supply will be provided and it's all going to be done according to a well detailed plan designed well in advance and i'm sure they know pretty well about the anticipated demand too, hence marketing department payroll. It's not a circus, nor miraculous 911th World's wonder extravaganza they are pulling off. Being a serious business working a relationship with large dealer network is as important as manufacturing. However, keeping a final consumer or odd dealer not aware of the immediate details is pretty much down to the same plan under brand exclusivity maintenance page.

And that is why I expect there to be no discounts initially, and many dealers will be asking more than MSRP on some models. Discounts on the 991.2 cars is higher now since many are waiting to see what the 992 will be, which is the same in the Corvette community in regards to the mid engine car.

I ordered my current 991.2 fairly early on and got a 5% discount. I just put a small deposit down to be the first in line for a 992 Targa. By the time the Targas arrive, my wife's 997.2 coupe will be 10 years old. Her first 911 was a 1987 Targa, and she'd love to have another one as her retirement reward (She retires in October of next year). Hopefully, the stars will align, and it'll all work out.

You’re sure about that? Declining passenger car sales in the market overall, weak sales of the 991.2, potentially polarizing new styling, the likely end of a long bull market and you’re concluding that demand will be high? For the standard 911?

U.S. sales of the 911 in 2017 were flat, up less than 1 percent. YTD the 911 is up 8 percent, but that's because the early period last year was weak with the new car and this year's sales include the GT3. July sales of the 991.2 911 were below last year. There is no big growth in demand for the standard 911, at least not to the point that dealers can charge an ADM on them. That's a total joke.

992 Carreras will NOT BE OVER MSRP!!!
Most will get 2%-5% off. Some dealers will do MSRP or 1% off right at the beginning. Think CALI dealers. They rarely have good deals.
These will not be limited cars, and wait until you see once again another price hike in MSRP!! These cars get more $$ yearly.

The price will be higher, the car will have more HP and be quicker as well as “better”. Some will complain bitterly that “an era has ended and things will never be the same” for (fill in reason: ex - air cooled, non turbo, turbo, etc).
People that want them will then buy the cars as they wish but most people with enough money to afford them will not pay over MSRP and many, if not most, will get some sort of discount depending on location and past purchasing history.
GT and completely unobtainable cars are subject to a different set of rules, it seems.
