Best Guess: 992 GTS Delivery
i have a ‘15 C4S coming off lease 9/1. I want to replace it with he 992 4 GTS. I have an option to extend my lease.
How far out are we from delivery of the 992 GTS?
I’ve been told the 1st 992’s, base and S’s, will arrive late Q2, 2019. I’ve also been told the 1st 992’s would arrive very late in 2019. The production lines will continue building the current car through the middle of 2019.
Does anybody really know what’s happening? Do we know when the base and S will be here? Does the GTS usually wait for 2 years after the base is introduced to hit the market?
Thanks!

The 991 C and CS was introduced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The 991 GTS was introduced in November 2014 at the LA Motor Show. Unless they change their marketing strategy I think we are looking for a long 3 years of waiting.

Instead of extending your lease, you might want to check into buying the car. My lease ends in November, and I'm facing a similar dilemma. I'm very interested in a 992, but it looks like there will be a least a one year gap. It turns out that my 991.2 has a trade-in value of about $20,000 more than the lease buyout. My present thought is to just buy the car in November and sell or trade it when the 992s arrive next year.

Dealer has said probably a year or 2 after the 992 is released

To me, that’s one of the downsides of GTS ownership—you’re always buying at end of production cycle, so (assuming having the “latest and greatest” is important to you) you only get to enjoy having the latest model for a relatively short period of time. Out of curiosity, is the Powerkit option available for the S/4S models prior to the availability of the GTS? If that’s the case, I suppose you could spec yourself a GTS before its actual release (albeit at higher cost).

Hi:
Thanks for the clear and thoughtful responses.
I am pretty sure the GTS is too far out for purchase this time around. I could buy out my lease but I want a change.
Lease extension is a pretty viable option to consider.
Then I’m back in a new C4S some time next year.
It always seems that the car I really want is a year off! This time it’s a buy so I’m lookin more long term. Time to make a final study of my options.

I was told yesterday that the 992 GTS will be available for order in Feb of 2020 and delivery in June. So 23 months from now. If you extend your lease look and see where the value would be. It may be a good move if you like your current model.
Good luck.

With the popularity of the last 911 GTS models, I would not be surprised if Porsche would bring them out a little sooner in the lineup now,....so the above might be true.

With the popularity of the GTS models, the next logical step is to ***** out the “GTS” designation onto the rest of the lineup like BMW does with the “M//“ badge now. So you could have for instance a “911 Carrera 4S GTS bits Black Edition” for instance.
