Upgrade - what will it take?
Esp. for those already in a non-turbo turbo (991.2), what will you need to see in the 992 to get you to be hot and bothered to upgrade immediately?

I usually keep my 911's for 7-8 years, so I'm not ready to get rid of my 991.2. That said, if the timing would have worked, I would have zero reservations about jumping into a 992. My 997 was significantly improved from my 996 and my 991 significantly improved from my 997. I have no doubt that the 992 will be a spectacular vehicle and will (sadly) render my 991 yesterday's news.

Making me think too hard! Since us .2 folks aren't likely to say "No Turbos" this is really tough. I don't want to see the center console buttons replaced with glass like the Panamara. I guess move the engine forward and make it visually 'that' much better. I hear the platform is all new but I've asked for someone to show me that information but have yet to see it. Knowing Porsche it will be fantastic.

I will most likely replace my 2018 991.2 with a 992.2 whenever that comes out. I like the 992 a lot from what I have seen.

Probably a second year 992. Or maybe a 992 GTS. Or maybe a manual 992 GT3.

I'm not sure what would cause me to upgrade from my 991.1 Turbo S to the newer model. I'm sure it will happen at some point, but I'm not yet sure how or when. My 991.1 is the best 911 that've owned, and I struggle to see how it could be much better. It does everything that I want in a car. I'm sure there will be something in the newer cars that eventually pushes me over the edge, but I can't say without seeing it.

But true.
I don’t feel the need to jump straight in, maybe in a couple of years when they do a 992.2 or a GTS. The recent cars are so good that it’s going to take serious engineering to make any noticeable difference on the road.
If there is a performance-biased hybrid option, i.e. torque fill but without the weight penalty of a full hybrid where you can go XX miles on battery alone, then that might be worth a look. A BMW i8 style drivetrain done by Porsche would interest me a lot.
Not sure about even larger wheels: 20” still seems huge to me; any bigger would be silly and what’s the advantage?
