Why doesn't the Turbo S have a distilled water tank like the GT2RS?

So the 991 GT2RS has as a distilled water tank that sprays water on the intercooler when the intake gets very hot at track speeds. Continuously needs refilling on track days and when it runs out of water the overall power is reduced.

The 992 Turbo S has very similar horsepower and torque numbers compared to the GT2RS, 640hp vs 700hp, and 590lb vs 553lb. I believe the Turbo S also has bigger turbo compressors.

Yet as far as I know, there is no water tank and no mention of reduced power during extended track runs. Anyone know why the new Turbo doesn't need the water spray?

Because neither the 991 nor 992 TT/TTS have the water cooling system found in the 991 GT2 RS.

Given the purpose of the TTS, I suspect extended track driving is not a use case worth optimizing for. I seriously doubt many will reach the limits of heat with the TTS.

On my 991's I have upgraded the intercoolers on both the 14' and 17 tts's', and I upgraded the intercoolers on my GT2 RS and do not run the water spray now because I get much better cooling than the stock system with water cooling offered, and in Sept the 992 will get done, it just allows better performance even in the summer heat run after run

What brand of intercoolers are you using? My upcoming 992 turbo will be seeing alot of track time and I may do the same upgrade.

The 991.2 GT2RS still has the largest turbochargers oem installed on any 911. 68mm compressor wheel and also a larger turbine wheel. The 992 TTS probably has a better IC system due to the airflow location and newer size IC’s.

By Design on the 991's and CSF for the 992

992 TS dos get heat soak, not as bad as 991.1. I am in South FL, it is hot already !
