Default Do US cars have gas particulate filters?

My 2021 992 Carrera does not have GPF. But what about the 2022 GT3?

Instead of asking individually on each new post about US delivery impressions, I’m starting a new thread to discuss the difference, if any, to the US market cars’ exhaust system.

Please share any videos, visual inspection, or sound impressions about the US market exhaust here!

My understanding was that the OPF housing is present but the internals are different.

A lot of misinformation here.

US cars do not have the particulate filter. However, there are internals that emulate the back pressure of a particulate filter in order to have a uniform engine design across all legislations.

Gone with race headers, or sports headers.

My Speedster has it and it’s a 2019 with the new engine, and I’m sure the 992 has it.

Can you not tell from the muted exhaust tone? Watch a 2018 vs 2021, pretty obvious. Curious how easy it will be to ditch them without tuning.

That was solved years ago with the Speedster- check GMG Racing and others

I drove the speedster hard w/PSE engaged and I was not impressed with the exhaust note at all. Speedster has same engine and exhaust system as the new GT3. My 981 sounds much better. Maybe because of the extra insulation with the top down? OPF is having an impact on sound quality for sure.

That said, most of the videos of the 992 GT3 sound pretty damn good to me though. It's hard judging from videos so I will just have to wait and see if I am going to make a modification.

I’m assuming the solution is a full header system that deletes the factory cats, sides.

Topgear is a British publication and all their cars have it. When I got my Speedster, my tech told me that I had the housing and not the internals…
lots of information on both sides.

My understanding is the housing exists but the filter is not present in US cars. That was per a friend who spoke with the service manager at a pretty big dealer.
