I'm opting for the touring as well. I'll be buying it and driving it forever.

Fairly large deposit as 1st in line for GT3T at MSRP in writing. Hopefully they uphold their end of the deal. Smallish dealership in midwest.

I’m in the waiting room - I have been on my dealer’s list for a European Delivery Touring for a while now. It’s going to a long year (or more) . . . but it will be worth it!

Just put my deposit down today at MSRP. My dealers GM is a real stand up guy and takes care of the locals.

I have zero idea what I’ll end up ordering but he said if I go winged GT3 expect delivery in about 12 months based on the list.

if back seats are an option in the Touring then I’ll wait for that. And definitely manual.

If you don't mind me asking, what dealer is taking deposits at MSRP and giving you a slot at ordering?

Any of you guys in here have a 991.2 touring currently? I like certain aspects of the 992, but can't see a car being any better than the one I have.

Me either Tony. Don't see a reason to upgrade.

Trying for a touring here

Porsche911GTS'16 02-17-2021 02:11 AM

A 1,000 mile 991.2 chalk Touring sold for about $50,000 over sticker today. Only time will tell where the 991.2 Touring pre-owned market will be in 6-12 months, but the way things are going, a new 992.1 Touring may be had for less than a pre-owned 991.2 Touring. Go figure.

absolutly correct.
...
:roflmao:

your statement is for sure based on following fact: The 1972 2.7 Carrera RS with 2+2 seats also didn´t made any sense back in the days. And is not RS or Porsche DNA.
Sold tourings: 1280 cars - i think all had 2+2 seats.
Compared with the 200 units Lightweight Variants of the 2.7l.

jo_ker 02-17-2021 02:22 AM

i think 991.2 Touring prices will come down.
or lets say like that: Why 991.2 Touring prices should be higher than 992 Touring prices?

i ordered a 992 Touring for Nov.2021
and plan to buy a 991 Touring as daily (with 2+2 seats mod) to bridge the time until the 992 will arrive.

the guy who will make the 2+2 seats mod (incl. German TÜV)

The 992 Touring seems like kind of a bust to me. The power increase is pretty lame even by Porsche standards. The big improvement is obviously the rear wing which provides hugely more downforce, but I would not want to drive around my town with that, and when you take it away....Front suspension is a little better but still. I'd feel pretty good if I was a 991 Touring owner. I wouldn't be surprised if Porsche, the company will make sure that everyone who wants one will be able to get one eventually.

I’m not in the market to get a new 992 GT3 but let me be another vote for the back seats as an option at least. Who would have thought that a wingless “touring” option which actually makes the product cheaper as there’s less offered minus the wing. Would be selling for $50k over msrp? Maybe a 992 touring with back seats can catch a similar fire. I can see many others wanting a 911 with back seats and a true GT formula applied to the overall package. Bottom line is why not? Don’t like it, don’t order it

Hi Chris, that's pretty interesting to me, as you have said [if I recall correctly] that your 991.2 Touring was your least favourite. Reassessing?

IMHO, the Touring will be the way to go with the 992 GT3. The new rear wing is just a bit too much for me. The exterior feels a bit more like an in between of a GT3 and GT3 RS.

But I doubt we will see an option to spec a Touring model until at least end of summer. The live event today definitely made it seem that they are in no rush to discuss it and seem to be more focused on making PTS a reality by summer time.

My dealer said for the UK there is around an 8 week gap but they are double checking today.

If not I will do the aftermarket mod. Its crazy they don't offer this as for a touring. I would hope for:
Folding buckets
Back seats
Softer suspension like the 911r
More interior luxury options like burmeister and leather colour options

I see the touring as the GT car made for the Street and for "Touring". Track capable but not its primary use.

I did and I loved her. It will be better to drive, but the front ends more aggressive looks may not be as appealing to everyone. I sold mine for the speedy.

They will go down especially if the 992 has a back seat option.

I am with you. What is the best price you negotiated from them?

Having seen the unavailing of the new GT3 yesterday, I’m not really in the waiting room anymore. I’ve got a 991.2 touring and love it - so yes, I’m probably (definitely) biased. The new model really doesn’t seem to offer a great deal that will translate into anything compelling for a prospective touring owner. Sound will be at best as good, engine output improvement will be barely discernible, digital instruments just don’t seem to fit (for me) with a car that’s all about it’s analog feel and I’m not a big fan of the nostrils. If I was a track junkie I’d absolutely be in and excited by the double wishbone, CF parts and dash but for predominant road use, it’s not for me.
I was surprised by the engine outputs marginal improvements - they obviously have pushed the absolute limit for the 4.0 NA (well, as much as you can whilst adhering to the environmental emission regulations).
