Default Change over valves code 001172

Recently purchased a used 2013 911 (991). Had the car in for service to replace spark plugs for the 4 year service interval. Faults were found in 2 COV with code 001172. Are these vacuum line faults? I did not receive any indications or warnings. I've read on rennlist that the COVs have been an issue. The second question is would the malfunction of a COV cause the car to shutdown (i.e., loss of coolant or overtemp)?
Thanks, GM

Could those faults have been old stored faults but the problem was fixed by the previous owner?

I know when I had two instances of COV failures I got a warning displayed until repaired.

CSK, the COVs were found cracked and leaking, 2 COVs were replaced. Based on visitador's helpful link, the 'C' type valves were used instead of the new 'F' types. There were no warnings, don't know if that is the case for all COV failures or only certain failure modes.

Thank you to everyone for any helpful advice, I'm new to this and trying to learn. Obviously a lot of material to digest, similar to drinking water from a fire hose!

CSK, the valves were replaced with 7PP-906-283-C change over valves. There are -F type COVs available, but my understanding is the previous versions will be used until the shelves are emptied. Any fault codes were cleared at the time.

There was a campaign to replace faulty changeover valves in earlier cars. You may want to ask your service advisor if your car is within the WC43 campaign and if so, whether the valves have been changed per the campaign.

This is the major annoyance with the 991.1 models. But I'll take this over self destructing engine issues in the 996 and 997.1 cars

Sorry missed my point. I was questioning Jxmgm where did the 2 valves they replaced on his car go to or what did they function.

CSK, sorry I didn't reply sooner, didn't check this thread over the weekend. I received an email from the service adviser, part of it pasted below:

Your 911 vin did not fall into the range for the needed WC43 recall.
The 2 valves that were replaced recently were in the vacuum system. One was
for the sound symposer, and one valve was for the thermal management.

So, the 2 valves were part of the vacuum system. I'm guessing the sound symposer has to do with the exhaust and thermal management works the heating system. More reading and studying the diagram...Visitador, looks like this car was outside the recall vin, I'll have to replace COVs as they fail.

Hope this helps.
