What's it worth...991.2 PDK Racing Yellow...

Keep the Porsche. Get rid of the WRX. It's the better daily driver and you've already taken the depreciation. The interest rate is low. More importantly, at times like these, you need something nice.

I still have my yellow 991.2 in the garage with 3,000 miles.
I currently owe $80,000 on the loan. Carmax said they would give my $76,000 for the car. I figure if I tried to sell the car I could get pretty damn close to the payoff amount. Car has 14 ways and stickered for $96,425. I bought it new from Champion for about $96,000 with sales tax, and financed a $85,000 loan. Still owe about $80,000.
I realize that I only "Need" one car.
But if figure since the loan is only at 2%'for another 4 1/2 years......I want to keep it for another year or so. I figure in another year the loan will be down to around $65,000 or so.
Do you think I'm going to lose a lot more in depreciation ?
Better to cut my losses now ?
I gotta think a year from now should be worth at least $70,000 right ?
Or will it depreciate a ton ?

Actually - best to get a dealer to lowball you an offer in writing to use for stated value in terms of giving up half your net worth.
Usually these car hit 20% year one. That's 20% of the MSRP - Not taxes and fees.

In 1 additional year of ownership you are going to "spend" 15k between the depreciation of the car and the interest you pay on the loan. Only you can determine whether that is a cost that you want to incur to drive it.
Of course, if you keep this one only and get rid of the Subaru, your ownership cost will be reduced (although not proportionally because putting more miles on the 991 will hurt its resale value significantly).
You know your finances... if it was me, I would keep the 911...

I just got the Subaru to daily drive........it's only 3 days old, lol.
Financially it makes sense to get rid of the 911. But I think I'm going to wait a year.
While my 911 is fly, the WRX is more of a no worries daily driver.
Also I wonder how the extra miles I put on the 911 will effect depreciation.
I figure now a very large chunk of depereciation has already occurred with the depreciation.
In another three years while still having warranty.....how low can it go.....
Base PDK, MSRP $96,425........ in 2020 I figure with like 20,000 it should still be worth close to $60,000

my back of the envelope depreciation schedule on 991's goes like this.
16% - year 1
26% - year 2
33% - year 3
40% - year 4
Apply these percentages to MSRP (do not include sales tax)
I am not dissing the color, but it will appeal to a smaller market. Time of year, options, location, etc all play a role as well.
Hope I don't catch the wrath of the 991 crowd here, but you did ask for opinions and these are the numbers I found close to market in January 2017.
Sorry for your situation. Sounds like it's too late to keep the 991 without taking a hit on the WRX as well
Best of luck

According to the percentages of yearly depreciation that Edmunds uses for the 911, your 911 should be worth at the end of years 1 to 5:
$81,689
$73,368
$66,045
$59,550
$53,722
If you drive it less than 5k miles / year, add 4k to those values.
If you use the percentajes that Porsche uses for the residuals in its 911 leases, it would be as follows:
$76,800
$63,360
$53,760
$47,265
$41,437
Again, if you drive it less than 5k miles a year, add 4k to those values.
Look at a thread called “is the price right” for further insight on values…

You should also consider where you think the economy and interest rates are going to be a year from now.

Good luck. Try to save the marriage. Go to counseling. Talk to your clergy. I hope no kids involved.
Maybe she doesn't like yellow? Tell her you can wrap it in just about any color. Might save the marriage.

Bingo IMO. Life is very short, and divorce (from a personal experience) can be a really tough thing to go through. The 911, you've already taken a hit on the depreciation on it, might as well enjoy it and drive it to put a smile on your face if you can swing it. Money comes and money goes, it's all about memories and enjoying what you can in my opinion..
