45000km on rear tires
just wanted to share with all of you my recent experience with tires. Noticed a bit of vibration so I thought I'll check it ... pictures below.. I am not proud that I left it this late to replace but it's only 18 months and since I do a long distance run on a highway every day, 45k km didn't seem too bad in my books

X2! The tread split is a little scary though. I wonder what caused it. BTW I love the pic of the fresh meat next to the old shoe. There's something about brand spanking new tires that makes me giddy.

Heh, definitely lucky with that crack...
not it sure what caused it, I do have a lot of speed bumps in my area... must have gone over a corner of one and cracked it.
any thoughts on replacing the fronts? Same mileage and the tire shop said that there are some miniature cracks all round but that there is enough thread. Should be good for another 5000 km according to them.

I had 21,782 miles on my 2015 Carrera S rear tires when they were down to 3/32" and hit the first 2/32" tread wear bar surprisingly on the outside. Even wear side to side with PDDC on all four tires. My front tires still had 6/32" tread side to side so I replaced the rears with matching original Pirelli (NO) P-Zeros. The second set of rear tires should wear out the same time as the two year old front tires.
Then some quieter and smoother riding Michelin Pilot Super Sports or whatever they are calling the newest ones.

So would I but I kept delaying it for other reasons, no garage here and car sits outside in Dubai heat... not great for the tires. In few weeks I am going for a 4 week vacation and trying to avoid having the car parked creating a flat spots.

totally your life and your car are worth a lot more than a set of worn out tires...
BTW always worth checking out the date of manufacture on your tires, even if they are *not* visibility worn, the effects of age on the compound can be significant (and dangerous) in terms of grip etc...

body of the contact patch, but any cracking etc is indicative of either heat
damage and/or chemical composition changes/degradation... I would imagine
that tire pressures probably change significantly in your climate, which will
result in accelerated pressure cycle issues...

agree, honestly since you probably don't encounter too much wet weather where you are, I would not be *too* concerned about the lack of tread on the
