So there any number of these unscientific best engines awards. Best top ten engines of the year, best top ten engine manufactures, best engines ever, best engines to cook a pot roast on, best of the best etc, etc. All judged by motoring journalists. I wonder if there is any correlation between the number of all expense paid junkets and the voting patterns?

How else would they be able to visit places like this? Don't ruin it for them!!

Not sure the cynicism (perhaps snobishness is a better word) posted above is justified.
381 judges were involved in scoring the engines. http://www.ukimediaevents.com/engine...ear/judges.php
The competition for the Porsche 911 engine came from a bunch of superbly engineered products. BMW 3-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder (M3/4) , Fiat Chrysler 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbo (Alfa Romeo), MBZ Amg, etc., etc., http://www.ukimediaevents.com/engine...ults.php?id=66
And Porsche left them all in the dust, so to speak.
Well done, Porsche engineers!

For some of us noise is a small factor in the enjoyment of a performance vehicle. I still have my E90 M3 with its glorious V8 but I'll take my 911 over M3 any day. In fact have my PSE reminds me how annoyed I am at those stupid ricers and stangs with their farty mufflers. A good turbo is making more with less and doing its best to keep power feeling linear so we can modulate the power. The 30 mpg vs 15 mpg doesn't hurt neither. I hate how often I have stop at the pump with my M3.

I just came from a 991.1 GTS into a 991.2 S. Love them both in different ways. I'm not a track guy and I can say power wise they feel the same to me. Yeah the GTS w/ its 3.8 NA engine was louder and more raw, but the .2 engine sounds good to me and sometimes I really don't want my car that loud and drawing unwanted attention. Loved the GTS look but really like the new interior and PCM system a lot more, and I went from PDK to MT. I have great things to say about both the .1 and .2 and PDT and MT....just all good stuff!!
