Default Question for Convertible Ownerd

Hey Guys,

I have a 2013 convert that is not my daily driver. It's a CPO, and my first convertible to own. I noticed recently when the top is up it is making a fair amount of noise, rattle and creaking type sounds. Normal for a soft top, or is it something I should potentially have looked at?

Thanks in advance

Mine does this too..but only at the window seals. Which I have lubricated. That seems to help.

Otherwise the top is solid.

Interested in hearing what others say.

In my 997.2 cab I would have to lube it on a regular basis. I also got a lot of creaking where the front opt the top meets the windshield. Porsche has a special $$$$ lube they put on that took care of it.

I ended up buying some so I'll send a picture later today.

Would love to know what lubricant and what areas to prevent any of these noises. I have a 2013 but have not noticed any of these sounds.

I have a 2013 S Cab and have not noticed any real noise from my top. I've put about 3k miles on it and a number of road trips with top up - e.g., about 900 miles each way.

Could be I am less sensitive but don't think so. Also, it has been on some quick laps at VIR at 120+ mph and did not really notice anything then either ....

I have a 2012 991 cab, I have the rattling when top is up intermittently. Solid as a rock with top down. I have owned the car for 4 years and can't really pinpoint the cause of it.

I've had some squeaks and rattles on my 2012 991. Dealer will take care of it at no cost, mine is also CPO. Every time my car goes in (once or twice a year) I have them work on it and it really does make a difference. Now I am at the point where I am happy, very few occasional squeaks on bad roads, otherwise solid.

As my car will roll off CPO next year, I have been thinking about potential cost moving forward. I think adjustments and lubrications once a year will be worth the extra cost for me, since I am OCD. But if the top stays as is I will be more than happy.

bought my 2103 cab new and it had no rattles. after 3 years and 16k miles, it did develop a knocking sound which seemed to be coming from the passenger side windshield. my dealer was great, they worked on it twice to solve the issue, tightening something. They were attentive since the top was replaced in it's 1 year because of a seam issue. After the problem was resolved, my SA told me that porsche didn't cover rattles as a warranty item, but they did cover me. Now it's nice and quiet with the top up.

You don't have to buy the re-branded Porsche product, this does the trick and has for years.

I don't have the issue yet on my 2014 cabriolet, but it's not uncommon. Lubrication is the key to a quiet car, as mentioned above.
