Discount on custom order.
I found a few other topics from searching but couldn't find much recently. What should I expect to be able to receive for a base C2 discount off sticker for a custom ordered car? I'd buy one on the lot, but I haven't found a black c2 with red/black leather interior, bose, pdk, sport chrono, and sunroof in glass.
My local dealer said no more than 1-2%. Granted, it would be an early 2018 build, cool -- but I was expecting to be able to achieve 5% or more. I normally wouldn't care, but we're talking at least $3,000 difference, plus buying locally I'm getting hit with another 3% or so tax compared to buying out of state and importing, where I'd only pay state tax, which is 5.x%.
Any reason to spend another $8k on the C2S? I could not feel a power difference between the non-S and S when I test drove them today back to back. Significant difference in brake feel though.
Trying to keep options to a minimum to maintain value. Sport chrono a big deal still?

As a reference point, I have an early 2018 being built this month. I got 5% off plus European delivery which cost the dealer $3000. It took one email to my dealer to negotiate the price. Some guys on the List are getting more of a discount. Good for them.
That said, it was my second Porsche from him and we are friends outside of work which made things a lot easier and it was the exact same deal as my first Porsche: 5% off plus ED.
My first Porsche, I ended up negotiating between 7 different dealers. They all said 1 - 3% off and no more. So I played them off each other and sent them the emails from the other SAs (unapologetically too) After all, this is business and $3k is not chump change for most of us. Email around. Be brutal. They will fold. 911 sales are way down in the US.

I got 5.75 off but that was shopping between the bay area and sacramento. It seemed most places have limited allocations and they aren't as willing to discount over 5%

You should be able to get around 5% off a custom order on a Carrera or Carrera S, 4, 4S. This will be a little higher on a Turbo or Turbo S. If you get 5% off a GTS you've done reasonably well. If you get 5% off a GT3 then you are unreal!

I assume the higher the sticker the better the discount then? Excluding GT3/GTS of course.
Any idea on discount on a car that's on the lot (17)? Guessing even if it's 10% it's still better bet to buy an 18, as depreciation will hit 17's immediately once the 18's are on lots. Too far into the MY at this point. Just throwing money away.

Depending on type of 911, you're looking at about $10k difference depreciation between MY (rough). Get an '18 unless you find the perfect '17 and get a 5% discount plus $10k imo.

In a PDK car, SC is a must/deal breaker for most/all due to launch control.
I get it with all my MT cars, but I actually like the dash wart and then the dynamic engine mounts are "free".
Email your bid to dealers in a radius you are willing to fly to and drive home from and say the first one to agree to 6% off gets the deal. Of course, if you are budgeting you have to add in the costs of airfare, lodging, etc. But hey, Road Trip!
Might not work but they are still making money at that price point on someone who would have never been there otherwise.
If C2 allocations are that rare, it may not work. I know nothing about that.
The further away, the closer you'll be to the magic 2000 miles when you get home!
Good luck.

I bought a 2017 base model with manual transmission that had just arrived on the lot (about a month ago). The sticker was $105 and I paid $95 (which included the doc fees and title work). I asked about buying a 2018 and was told the discount would be 4%. So, maybe they would have gone 5% on the discount, don't know for sure but saving an extra $5k was a better option, but then again, I got creature features that I probably would not have ordered....but have grown to like.
