USAA quoted me $1824 a year for my 2018 C2S I have on order.
43 years old with no tickets or accident claims on my license. That seems excessive. I am going to have to shop around when the car comes.

$1767 / 6 mos. GEICO
for 5 cars, 4 drivers. The Porsche rate is the same as my A4, although based on fewer (5K) miles/yr.

991.1S. It is higher in cost compared to the combined total for my 2016 Golf R and my wife's 2017 Kia Sedona. But, I'm 33 so that might be part of the reason the 911 is so expensive to insure.

Everything about the exact same as you.

My '18 GTS is about $1800 per year (<5k miles per year) through State Farm (500 deductibles).

Although, I live in Michigan and that is home to the most expensive auto rates in country.

'18 GTS, USAA says $1950/yr give or take....w/$500 deductible.

Probably going to shop it around. So much for 30 years of loyalty. At least I'll get that SSA check back from them

I clicked on this thread to get an idea how much I might expect on my GTS that is on order. Needless to say, some of the numbers I see quoted here are mind boggling.

I currently have two cars with $250K/$500K, collision w/$250 deductible, and comprehensive w/$0 deductible (State Farm).

'15 Cayman S $338.71/6 mths
'17 GMC Acadia Denali $328.40/6 mths

The Cayman S was a $90K build, and the on order GTS coupe is a $140K build, so I'm expecting something in the $400's per 6 months.

Some of the numbers I've seen in this thread would probably lead me to committing ritual seppuku.

Agreed. The variation on this thread is staggering... Amusingly I still pay more for a net cost $23000 E-golf lease insurance ($550/6mo) than I do for the 991 ($500/6mo). That's insane as well... The car costs 1/3 of the 991!

For those "of Age" (50+) try The Hartford/AARP Auto insurance program. $1350 per year in NYC area.

Ask your State Farm Agent for the "Drive Safe and Save" program, if it is a weekend driver it is a great program that works for me. I only pay based on how much I use the car.. They check the odometer every 6 months or so, but works well for all low usage cars I have had.. I just use their app for reporting the mileage takes me only 30 seconds... Hope this helps .

Does that involve a "tracking" device on your car?

I looked into this once and decided I'd probably end up with higher rates despite the lower miles. From State Farm's own FAQs:
"Location/GPS is used in conjunction with the accelerometer and other sensors to measure speed, turning, braking, acceleration, time of day, and miles driven. The vehicle location obtained from Drive Safe & Save is not used in rating."

It seems they check a lot more than the odometer.

I don't know if it is different in other states, but in FL if you already have the lowest miles pleasure vehicle rating, you won't gain anything with the State Farm program.

I pay Geico $514 every 6 months for my 2015 C2, which includes "Mechanical Breakdown Insurance."

What is Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI)?

Mechanical Breakdown Insurance covers many mechanical repairs to your car, protecting you from expensive repair bills. This coverage is only available for vehicles with less than 15,000 miles that have been purchased within the last 15 months. A $250 deductible per claim applies. Mechanical Breakdown Insurance is similar to a dealer's extended warranty protection. It's in excess of coverage provided by the manufacturer's warranty.

Mechanical Breakdown Insurance covers repairs to the following systems:

Engine, Steering, Air Conditioning, Transmission, Cooling, Brakes, Drive Axle, Suspension, Electrical

EXCLUSIONS: MBI does not include regular maintenance services such as tune-ups, suspension alignment, wheel balancing, filters, lubrication, coolant and fluids, spark plugs, brake pads and lining, brake shoes and tires (includes tire wear and/or tire damage). Breakdown repairs made necessary by intentional damage, rust and oxidation, misuse, or improper maintenance are not covered. Mechanical Breakdown coverage is in excess of coverage provided by the manufacturer's warranty.
