Default So... How long until your first ticket in your 911?

Two month anniversary (to the day).... 1,400 miles... 1 ticket.

Turned onto a major road with minimal traffic and engaged in "spirited" acceleration.... thank God I only blipped it (I like to get to speed limit quickly, but am not apt to go inappropriately fast very often).

Officer clocked me at 53 in a 40. I didn't even see him until he was behind me... could have easily hit triple digits in only a few more seconds if I kept on it.

Many cars pulled over far ahead (around curves). $160 fine and a point on my record.

I've been talking to installer about whether to go Stinger VIP, Escort 360 CI Max (which has horrible reviews so far), ALPs or another mix thereof. Hmmm .... more incentive to make a decision!

Don't jinx us

Best thing to do is have common sense, be aware of your surroundings, and have protection.

I've gotten 2 tickets ever: one for incomplete stop (before moving to CA) and a fix-it in the 911 for "not having a stupid front plate". I've been pulled over for moderate speeding (10-15 over) probably 10 times or more but been lucky with no speeding tickets yet. I'm sure it'll happen with a grumpy cop one of these days.

Like going on a 3rd date?

7000 miles as of this evening, zero tickets. Pure miracle in an RY 911.
Oh, and no protection but yes to common sense.

You should never go on a 3rd date. If she doesn't put out on the 2nd, you're wasting your effort.

Edit: And YES protection. ALWAYS use protection.

Dodged a close one a couple of weeks ago. Went for a day long outing with my son for a 150 mile drive. We're about 10 miles into our journey and we're entering a highway when my son says "cop, cop, cop". I look down at the speedo and see we're 20 mph over already and I haven't even merged on to the highway yet. Looking up, I see a State Trooper in the median. Luckily, he must have been aiming his radar at the left and center lanes and overlooked my car. Whew...need to be really careful.

The rumor I heard is even if they get you on radar, if you slow down right away they consider it a sign of respect (and probably of not texting too) and let you go.

Close to three months, ~5000 miles, no tickets.

No protection yet, running Waze (a good idea...it's free). Waiting for more reviews on 360 CI. The Uniden R3 getting good reviews, maybe can run with ALP or something.

I probably shouldn't even post here and jinx myself, but after many-many years and miles of Porsche driving, I've only received one ticket (and a few warnings for the same) for "no front plate". I'm sure my day is coming, and it will be a very expensive day. I only hope the LEO does not impound my car.

No radar detector. No waze. No laser thingamajig. I just don't speed around town in 25-45 MPH speed zones. And on the highway, I just relax and cruise about 5-9 mph over, and not fret about it.

Funny story. Many years ago, when in the Boxster with the top down, I got caught in quick sun shower. As most know, if the rain is not too bad, and you keep your pace up, the water essentially sheds off the car, and you're fine & dry. But I didn't get the side windows up fast enough, so I got a little water trickling into the car from the wipers. As I was trying to wipe up the water with a few napkins (thanks Starbucks) I crossed the white line and lane divider a few times. Cop behind me pulls me over. I think, he thought, I was drunk! It was about 4:30 AM. I explained the rain water. He laughed, and told me to "have a nice, safe, day, and get out of here".

LexVan it sounds like we have the same driving parameters, except I'm paranoid and have a escort max360.

Kind of odd to drive with the top down at 4:30am, sounds cold.

So, that was your 'take away'? LOL! OK, maybe I was drunk (not). But I was on the western edge of the eastern time zone, in the peak of summer.

Even on cold/cool spring/fall days, top down, seat warmers, great heater, windstop, this is no problem. OK, sometimes I wear a knit hat. The coldest spot is the back of the neck. A rolled-up towel, like Rocky Balboa, solves that.
