Porsche to crack down on car flippers haha

So if they are built in Kentucky, does that mean there may be empty bottles of bourbon on board?

To get back on topic....
I know a guy who bought a 918 (sold it for a profit) which gave him access to the GT cars. He also bought a 911R and still has it but he flips GT3RSs. He works with his dealership and has them spec it out. He stores it for a year + and then he sells it through the dealership for a 50k profit which is split between them. Unbelievable. Repeat multiple times. I'm glad Porsche is catching onto this.
Agree with previous comments. Make exactly enough GT cars to meet demand.....minus one. That solves the problem.

So they're not in a glass house, nor are they throwing stones.

I understand perfectly well that the dealer is not Porsche, but if "the brand" is allowed to behave like that without intervention from PCNA, then sorry that's clearly a glass house.

My old Jag was one of the best cars I've ever owned... but the dealer was so bad and the only one around that I'll never buy another Jag so long as that is the case. Would have kept my XKR and never got the 911 experience if not for that... would have also bought a sedan instead of my bimmer and would have an F Type in addition to my XKR - BUT, that dealer will never see another penney from me.

If Pruniger is serious about this, then he should get Porsche to stop making models in limited production runs. Also, maybe get rid of first dibs lists to people that purchase their +$1M Hypercars. I consider myself an enthusiast, and my '13 991 is my daily driver year round(in the northeast mind you). I would definitely grab a 991R at the MSRP, but not at 3-4x msrp. I don't care about how many they build, I care about the engineering and craftsmanship of the vehicle. Is that the type of enthusiast they are looking for?

There's a non-Porsche dealer advertising early positions on a 2018 GT3 ... $30k plus the $10k deposit he has on the car, you spec the build and you buy it for sticker from the actual Porsche dealer. January/February builds. He's sold a couple of them. Some people don't like to wait.

I find it very hard to believe this guy is serious!
Andreas Preuninger, Porsche’s head of GT road-car development: “I don’t like this business of people buying our cars to make money on them. That was never our intention. The purpose of limiting a car is not for it to gain value......”
I'm sure he's a great engineer; but, jeez, when it comes to sales, you wonder what planet he's living on.
Ever heard of the BMW M4 GTS? BMW said the same thing about that car, i.e., it's a track car not a money car. They even made up rules to make sure it was sold only for track purposes. Guess what? Didn't happen. Starting with those capitalists, the dealers.

Well, the dealers selling brand new cars over MSRP (GT3 for example) can definitely be brought under control, what happens in the used car market is untouchable by Porsche. They need to keep doing what they did with 911R and GT3. Keep pushing newer models to offset any gains on limited edition cars, and then the "Capitalists" will take the hint very quickly and the markups will reduce to a great extent. The downside to Porsche is that they WILL have to spend money to launch new models if they care about it so much.
Personally, looking at the current lineup, adding models doesn't seem that big of a deal for them. I am highly interested in seeing their action plan here...
