He wants more commotion. In that context, I understand his preference for a Cayman GTS.

Interesting. It reminds me of a review of the regular Turbos as they get bigger, faster and more insulated from the road. What a great job as an automotive journalist. Two nights at the Ritz, wined and dined by Porsche, driving on the mountain roads around Tahoe. I'm in the wrong business! That car certainly is beautiful though, black w the red top.

I stopped reading after a few paragraphs. My car is arriving very soon. I only want to think happy thoughts! Besides, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Opinions aren't always accurate views... I can't wait for my car to arrive and I know I'm going to love it.

I'm guessing his review is pretty accurate, but that doesn't mean it's a bad car. Just not what he wants or expected in the car. I think a lot of GTS buyers want exactly the car he described, something comfortable and easy to drive wickedly fast, or they'd be trying to buy a GT3. Just different strokes for different folks. I do think that anyone buying a GTS thinking it's a GT3 lite is probably making a mistake.

It's never what you say, it's how you say it.

This sums it up:
"You have high expectations for an “enthusiast-spec†Porsche, and the 2017 Porsche 911 GTS lives up to a lot of them. Hell, it steps to twice the speed limit in as long as it took you to read this introduction. But for all its power and precision, the car doesn’t have much personality."
"The 911 GTS is an objectively exceptional car, and I don’t doubt an ace hotshoe like Holland can wring fire out of it on a track. But if I’m going to spend $120,000 on a toy car for street driving, I need it to be exciting below 120 mph."
Nothing surprising. What we've been saying since the .2 release. The direction Porsche has decided on the Carrera line. Pushing the "enthusiast" crowd upstream to the GT cars.
The plan has been to make the Carrera line just this:
"But this 911’s emphasis is on compliance and everyday usability."
That's fine and dandy, and first time 991.2 buyers will never know what they're missing. Some like the experience more raw and exciting. Some think the Carrera should be a mini Panamera.
All depends on what your "wants" are in a car. I want a raw and visceral experience in my non daily driver sports car. I want it to be an "experience" and "show". Different than my expectations daily driving a Macan S.
Make your own choice.....

He also drove the heaviest model with AWD and it was a targa, Id be really interested for him to drive a PDK RWD with RWS model...as every single person who's review those (or the manual version) seems to LOVE it.

The 991.2 is a fine model. Just "different" than what came before it. No better or worse, but just depends on what you're looking for like I mentioned.
These reviewers are comparing it to the 991.1 GTS and what came before the 991.2
You have some guys here that think PSE and cabin noise are too much, and some that think it isn't enough. So many different wants and personalities here on the forum. Like I said, choose for yourself.
Every one of these cars has a perfect buyer. In my case, I always know what I want. I won't be seeking out the boards advice as to which car should I buy? Like we see here so often.

I drive a 2017 GTS coupe with manual transmission, SPASM and sunroof delete, and don't relate to most of the author's comments. His word choice is unnecessarily dramatic.
"Everyday usability"?....Absolutely. I commute with my GTS several days per week and can drive with the kids in the back on weekends.
"Soft" or "numb"?....Come on, not a chance. Those are not two words that result in a precision machine with a 7:24 ring time.
I completely understand the rationale of buying a GT3 or Turbo - both amazing cars with different personalities - but none of the 991.2 choices are "ominous".
