Has to be one or a combination of those facts. Its not a 500hp car with another 2 pounds of boost.

Unless you have actual proof of any of the above statements, you might not want to be so emphatic as you are potentially slandering GIAC.

GIAC (or a dealer) has posted dyno plots that show significant HP and TQ increases. The ET reported here also does suggest a significant power increase.

There are numerous ways in which this power increase could happen without huge increases in peak boost pressure. First, there is the A/F ratio. More power comes from a leaner mixture (until it is too lean at which point bad things happen). More power comes from more aggressive spark timing. Many modern cars have built-in torque limiting at low to mid-range RPMs to provide a more linear power delivery. The GIAC tune could and likely does alter all of these parameters and more. All of these can increase power significantly without huge increases in peak boost.

Even on NA cars, a good tune can often provide increases of 15-30 HP or more over stock at various RPM ranges by altering some of the above parameters. Combine that with even a modest increase in boost, and 50+ HP is easy to achieve.

I am impressed with the reported results and I hope that GIAC and other tuners continue their efforts as competition will provide more benefits for us owners and will likely push down prices.

I'll throw this tune on my 991.2 ASAP and prove it. Unfortunately, GIAC doesn't seem to care about answering e-mails about their products.

Frankly, I'd like to see the slip as I don't believe you. I don't believe that someone who ran a time you claimed would not know how a dragstrip's timing equipment works. I also don't believe the numbers you claim either.
Well I didn't really run that time myself, my launch control did, I didn't do anything. You're right I don't know anything about drag racing I did it once for fun. I think it's silly.

No. Just no. I keep hearing this, and I've seen some dyno plots, but the numbers say otherwise.

I have multiple 10.8@134 runs, a 10.6@136 run and a pile of 11.1@132 runs on a test-n-tune track with crap prep where I get wheelspin on every attempt. My car is bone-stock right down to OEM tire pressures and all the tools + manuals in the car. 10mph+ higher trap speed in the 1/4 mile is not even close in terms of power production. Because of the Turbo's power, it really needs something a lot stickier than stock street tires to get its power down, E.T. on slicks for a TTS is 10.2-10.4 absolutely stock otherwise.

All of that said, 11.2@122 is a really fast car. I had a 480hp, 3350lb race car that wasn't that fast in the late 90s.

and reality

Acceleration curves................

Red line 991.1 GT3RS - 500PS PDK (accelerartion curve VBox)
Red dot 991.2 GT3 - 500PS PDK (1/4 mile and trap motortrend)
Yellow line 991.1 GT3 - 475PS PDK (acceleration curve VBox)
Green line 991.2 C2GTS - 450PS PDK (acceleration curve VBox)
Black Dot - 991.2 CS GIAC tune (trap speed and time MAC10 - claims 525HP)
Blue line - 991.2 C2S - 420PS PDK (acceleration curve VBox)
Black line - 991.2 C2 - 370PS (acceleration curve VBox - not shown in inset)

The conclusions are clear.

There is (also) an elephant in the room.........

oh forgot to add...the difference between the light blue line (Carrera S) and the green line (Carrera GTS) is 30HP (at the crank) - I'm sure most are aware of this.

Just got my GTS tuned today and WOW. I'm so glad I did it. The car feels way quicker and is even more fun. I got a Eurocharged tune, and they claim 80hp/90lbft tq. It definitely feels like it. Totally transformed the car.

Did they dyno your car - before tune and after tune? Where are you making your gains?

They could have dynoed it if I wanted, but I didn't bother since I was in a rush to get it done. Also, I know the guys and trust them, and I have several friends that have their tunes and they have all been happy.

I only got it back today, but first impressions are great! It feels like I have more power everywhere. It pulls really hard even in 4th gear (PDK), and it definitely feels more like a turbo car now compared to the artificial linearity in the stock Porsche tune. I don't mean that in a bad way at all, I love the way it feels now. It just builds power so much more aggressively through the whole rev range, with zero driveability issues at all.

I'm taking it for a spirited drive this weekend to really push the car hard for a couple of hundred miles. When I did the same route last weekend I was wanting more power (hence why I got the tune this week), so it'll be interesting to see how it feels now.

Congrats! Are you running any other mods?
