That's the exact analogy that I was thinking about when I replied to the brake pad question. All season tires provide the convenience of not having to change tires with the seasons and most of them last at least 50K miles. Problem is that they provide mediocre traction throughout the year. Using a track-only pad like Hawk's DTC70 on the street is comparable to driving a racing slick in the rain. Although they provide great stopping, they are noisy and throw off a tremendous amount of brake dust. Check out the wheels and even fenders of a race car that has run just a few laps, and you'll find that they are covered in brake dust.
Bottom line is that Porsche's OEM pads are a great compromise: outstanding stopping, moderate brake dust, and little to no noise.

Doesn't last any washes. The Armor All stuff comes off entirely when you wash your car. You have to reapply it after every wash. Before I had PCCB, it was the last thing I did each time I washed my car. Works great if applied correctly. Cheaper than swapping brake pads as well and you continue to get stock performance from the brakes.

Get darker wheels, or carbon ceramic brakes, or just ignore it.

Best thing I ever did. I put them on my M235i last week and have a set waiting for my, yet undelivered, Macan GTS.

I really haven't seen hardly any brake dust since I bought my car...

Glad that is the case - sure makes it easier to clean the wheels. My previous 991S had a lot more brake dust.

This is from last Friday after driving all day.

Drive more.

Cleaning every 3 miles sucks. Clean after every 300 miles or so...... less suck.

Here are my wheels, after about 1,600 miles (since early April), using the Armor All Outlast. No rain. No washes.:

Can get expensive at about $12 -$15 per can?

I think I pay under $9 at Walmart. The old product, called Armor All Wheel Protectant, was about $7/can, but the cans were half the size of the Outlast.

Agreed. Repaint your wheels black, if you like black. On next car, order PCCB's.
I loved them when I had them.

I've used ceramic pads on three 911s now all with very good results. I no longer had to wash the silver wheels more frequently than the car.

The ceramic pads on my 991 came from Carbotech, but getting them ordered correctly is a bit confusing and they were pretty expensive compared to Centric (which I didn't know about at the time). The ultra-low dust is great and performance is just fine... although I don't outright track the car so I can't speak to that. No problems during autocross though or sports driving though.

Hawk was expecting to have them for our cars by now when I checked with them last year, so they may be an option too. I used those on my 997.1 and .2.

But if these guys are saying that the Centrics are good, you can probably most easily opt for those.

Mine are car enthusiasts that admire Rumble Bee!

But who cares, downshifting in sport mode/PSE ON sends the kids running to the curbs, I think of it as a safety feature as it announces my impending drive by!

Can anyone comment with respect to pedal feel with the low dust pads? On my older 911, the low dust pads made the brake pedal feel mushy.
