Leaf blower for me as well...plus ear plugs!

I use a waffle textured towel that works like a blotter. Just lay it on surface and pat dry. No rubbing required. Absorbs water well and greatly reduces chance of swirls and scratches. I bought 4 towels years ago for around $20 IIRC. A must have for dark painted surfaces. I got mine from Esoteric or AutoGeek online.

I use my air compressor with a blower nozzle each time I detail cars. With a detailers towel, there is usually no wiping involved. just from the top down and inside crevices. That said, I wouldn't go and buy an air compressor for this express purpose, but its handy having it around for detailing on top of the many wheel removals, brake jobs, and exhaust work tasks I do on a yearly basis.

I used a big powerful leaf blower for years. Then it got stolen. Just replaced it with an EZGO electric and I'll never go back. $200, plenty of power, light weight, quieter, and plenty of battery life.

Leaf blowers are for leaves.
The Master Blaster has a more narrow air stream that gets water out of all crevices (unlike a leaf blower). The kind of water runs you get after that first drive that you hate.

I use my leaf blower to get the bulk of the water off the main surfaces and from cracks and crevices, followed by towel dry. then I blast the cracks and crevices along with lug bolt holes with my air compressor, followed by one last pass with the towel.

Gotta respectfully disagree with you on this one STG. If you were closer I'd have to challenge you to a car drying competition! Your vacuum cleaner hooked up backward would get smoked by my $49 Sears leaf blower.

I always wash at dusk, right after the sun has fallen below the treeline. Blow the water off with a blower, which takes almost all the water off the entire car. Then use microfiber towels to get the rest. Zero water spots and super quick. Other to making it quick and easy is a good paint coating like OptiCoat, CQuartz, Modesta, etc. The water just flies off my car when I use the blower.
