I have an early 991 and i guess they come with a rubberized plastic coated sill cover thats different from later models. mines all scratched and the rubberization(real word?) is peeling.

has anyone found a sill protector plate replacement or cover that looks good?

I'd find a clear bra installer and have him put some film over them. I've done quite a few and it will hide the scratches if they aren't too bad.
