A Pillar Rattle fix for under $1
Hopefully this will help someone out there...
I was having a rattle from my headliner/A-pillar area. It was quite loud and could be silenced with pressure to the headliner. Upon close inspection it appeared that the headliner was just slightly mobile (1mm or so) and was making the noise. I purchased a sheet of felt from Michael's for about 40 cents and cut it into thin strips. I then placed felt between the headliner and the roof.
Very happy with the result. I used a very thin piece of felt and only about 3-4mm of it was actually inserted; the rest was tucked neatly behind the rubber window trim. For the first time in my year of 911 ownership I can enjoy my car with the stereo off!
FWIW I did take the car to the local dealer who advised I live with the rattle as there was nothing that could be done without removing the headliner (quite costly out of warranty).
Cheers,
NF
