I am not going with the new 991.2

Correction
Some facts about the 991.2 GTS, thanks to Total911 (I'm expecting delivery of one in July):
1) The most powerful Carrera yet
We’ll say that again, 450hp, that up 30hp on the 420hp Porsche 911 Gen1 GTS it replaces. Astonishingly, that’s just 6hp shy of what the Porsche 959 produced, or, if you want a more contemporary reference, it’s the same power as a 997 Gen2 GT3 RS. Damn. Don’t you just love progress?
2) More torque than a GT3 RS
That hp figure is backed with some substantial twist, the boosted output of the 9A2 engine seeing its torque output increase from 500Nm in a Carrera S, to 550Nm from 2,150rpm right through to 5,000rpm. By comparison a 991 GT3 RS or 911 R only manages 460Nm, and at far higher revs…
3) Quicker than an R, faster than a GT3 RS
The quickest accelerating Porsche 911 GTS is the Carrera 4 GTS Coupe with PDK, it reaching 62mph in a 911 R bettering 3.6 seconds. You’ll not match that outright sprinting ability in the ‘true’ GTS manual Coupe, but with rear-wheel drive it makes the most of its lesser mass, being the fastest, with a quoted top speed of 194mph.
991.2 is a fantastic car.

Three Wheelin'
Other than sound, the .2 is a better car. Not sure why it's even a debate. I'm still not sold on buying one, but it's definitely a better car than my .1
By the way that Affymetrix exhaust a few posts above sounds awful. And that whistle! That goddam whistle. That would drive me nuts.

The .2 is a better car period. It will outperform nearly everything on the road. However, the sound and soul of the .1 is what I enjoy most. If all I wanted was speed, then I'd be driving a turbo.
Had an allocation for a .2 GTS and passed when a lovely low mileage .1 GTS came up for sale. I'm a naturally aspirated fan...always will be.
BUT I do have a turbo in my work Touareg

You must have an affinity for sloths as well, which would explain your preference for a 991.2 Not As Expensive As A Turbo over a 991 Real Turbo.
Every argument for "you must prefer the 991.2 because it's faster and therefor better" always existed with the 911 Turbo. Yet many of us chose the slower NA car on purpose.
I don't remember 911 Turbo people disparaging the NA Carrera range though.

Got some shocking news. Most of people that consider the 996 the worst porsche ever are the weird porsche guys. In 3 years of 996 ownership never had anyone say anything negative about it, have to go to the forums to find that stuff. An oh, by the way, most of them hate the 997's and 991's also. And as far as value, since the 996, all porsches have been mass produced. The 997's will soon be down to 20K, and a couple years after that the 991's (both the .1 and .2's will follow suit). It's a numbers thing and unless you have a special or rare edition, they will continue to depreciate.
Anyway, off topic.
991.1's rule and anything Porsche turbo charges except a Turbo is a poser (except my wife's Macan S)

Nobody seemed to mention the fact that the only reason Porsche went to all Turbo motors is because of EPA continuing to crack down harder and harder. They did the best they could but I would bet, Porsche would have much rather continued with NA engines. There is a place for Turbo engines but IMO they should not all be Turbos.
This is nothing more than a convenient excuse. Porsche went Turbo to cut costs. The 9A2 is modular and sees duty in the base 718 up to the 911 GTS. They can even stretch it to an eight cylinder and have said as much.
If Dodge can deliver an 840 horsepower twin screw supercharged 6.2 liter V8 that meets standards Porsche can deliver an NA motor that does as well. In fact, they do in the GT3.

Although I have a 993 I love a well sorted 996 and GT3. My buddy Magnus Walker, who has forgotten more about Porsches than most 991 dudes know likes his water cooled 996 gt3.
He 991 will go down in value because of it being a new set up. And because most 991 guys would have bought a Lamborghini if the could fit in it. I bet most of you guys have garage queens. My 993 is a Daily Driver.
I bet that the majority of you 991 guys, with the he $5k sound system, the paddle shifters have not driven he original Porsche, An air cooled, 4 cylinder car like the 365. Me, I took my driver's test in a 73 911T that restored, is worth more than your 991
Remember the average 991 guy is still justifying paying a lot of money for a water cooled car that will depreciate like all Porsches.
So rock on poseurs

A guy can push back on a car that is $100,000+. I always pay cash.
The new 991.2 has a smaller engine and a turbo that should make us feel better? It doesn't make me feel better.
The 991.2 turbo is just in it's first year. I am going to keep my old 2014 991.1 for another year or so. These cars may have some interest as the last of the normally aspirated cars on the early 2012's?
I may just buy an older air-cooled car which seems to have a new lower price today. I did bid for one at Mecum in FL.

It's not the last NA. The GT3 exists.
I like NA and turbos. I like cars. I also like both apples and oranges.
If I had to choose between a .1 and a .2, I'd probably go .2.

Getting back to the current debate - I don't have time to worry about the difference in engine noises because my 991.2 is so fast I pass 991.1's too quickly to notice... (tongue in cheek for the record).
