Default Rear Bumper Cover Removal & Install DIY

This isn't a new DIY as there are other helpful examples that have been out there for some time... This is my personal version -- recently had to get the rear bumper cover off to inspect the PAD mounts for an issue and had the camera rolling entire time. In this DIY I talk about taking the bumper cover off, take it off, talk about some of the bits that are uncovered, then re-install in reverse order! Boring stuff, but might be helpful to anyone out there doing their own projects, changing air filters, etc.

If you want to jump past the removal to the install forward to ~19m:34sec

Cheers!

Nice job and quality video for the rear removal.

Hardest part I experienced when I performed the same job was the rear connector for the reverse sensors which you don't have on your GTS. The connector is secured to the inside of the rear bumper and is fragile. Thus you don't want to pull the rear bumper away from the car without removing that connector first. I would love to see a video of how someone does this connector removal without a) breaking the securing tab on the inside of the bumper, and b) without mangling the connector to disconnect it.

You can access this connector after you remove the drivers side taillight. Just reach in through the taillight opening and disconnect it. I haven't found it tricky to disconnect. I do pull it off of the securing tab on the bumper first for better leverage to squeeze and pull. I do it with one hand. I've done this a few times so it's getting easier. Then continue to remove the rear bumper cover.

What is easier, removing the rear bumper or front? The front was do-able, but iI would notmsay easy. Could be that I didn't have ramps or a jack and didn't take off the wheels

The rear is much easier, IMO.

The rear bumper easily takes half as long or less than the front. Very easy in comparison

I just jacked either side until the wheel fell down with enough space to fit my hands in. Pulling the wheels isn't necessary.

I broke the electrical clip that connects to the bumper. I broke the piece that is coming from the car not the bumper. Does anyone know how to fix this plastic piece or wiring harness that contains this piece?

Thanks!
