FYI, these are the instructions for removing the dummy key, it's really easy. From Suncoast:

Installation Note: Turn your old key plug to the far left and hold it that way for 30 seconds. You will hear a click that unlocks the mechanism and you can then remove it. In some cases, the actual remote control key must be outside the car and out of range on the vehicle.

That worked for me, never heard of the STG method and don't think we are talking about the ignition lock as linked to previously.
