Default What else did you drive before Deciding on 991

I tried to search for this topic but came up empty.

Did you all look at / test drive other cars before deciding on the 991? For me its been audi a7 and bmw 540i. I like the 540i a lot. The a7 is nice but interior is dated to me and the car did not feel as fast as the 540i.
I realize these cars are in a different category but that's what I've looked at so far. I've yet to drive a 991. Tks

The 911 had always been the prize. The 991 was the perfect fit at the time I finally took the plunge. There was no "other". Never settle.

I drove a Cayman-S. Mid-engine is cool, but the iconic 911 wins every time.

I didn't drive anything after I test drove a 991. Really grew up dreaming to own one one day, and after I drove it I thought it really was everything that I thought it'd be.

There is no substitute and that hasn't changed.

I knew I was getting a 911 before I ever drove one too. I also knew it would be Aqua Blue.

Coming from owning a C5 and a C6 previously...I was looking very hard at the Corvette (C7).

Once I began to seriously look at the 991, though, it was all over. There is no substitute.

All I wanted, didn't drive any other car. I've been wanting a 911 since I first rode in a 930 when I was 16 in 1986 and it was glorious. It should be here before the end of April.

The 911 was always my goal. When I finally got it, I loved it, but then wanted to try the bigger and better. Went to a GT3 to a Turbo to an Aston Martin Vantage to a Ferrari 430/M3 to an AMG C63 and FINALLY back to the Carrera. After all my wanderings and experiencing different models and brands, I came to realize that the Carrera is the best car for me. Love the looks, performance, practicality, and reliability.

Test drove a 991.1 C4. Underwhelmed by the power. Blown away by the handling. Which is why I ordered a 991.2 C2s. Just wanted better power. Did not test any other similar car. Went and looked at Minis years ago, but never test drove one. Test drove some super sport Mustang maybe late 1990s or early 2000s. Some supposedly big V8. Whatever it was it sucked. Thought about a Cayman but wanted the back seats. The 911 is a freak because it is a fantastic sports car but still has those back seats.

I sat in the new Cayman, but found out the interior didn't work for me (not enough leg room). So, the 991 became the only target.

Thought about a c7 corvette, but couldn't spend the money on it. Great car, great performance, but wasn't a 991.

In my case as I aged I still was drawn by the attributes of my first car, a 1965 Corvair, i.e. air cooled and nimble. So the path of affordable cars eventually led to a fun car, a 1976 911 bought in 1982. It was replaced by a 1984 911 Carrera, 1997 Boxster, 2000 Boxster S and back to full circle a 1997 993tt. The 2016 991.1 Club Coupe - because I can and its nimble and sounds proper. Other cars I have driven - Japanese especially have no soul, although my string of Audis is even longer than the p-cars.
