Launch car 991.1 c4s purchase help
Hi Everyone, I'm looking at a daily driver to compliment the gt4, and I came across a '13 c4s with a manual, which I specifically have been looking for. It's a cpo launch car, and I saw one thread on buying a launch car to help, but I was hoping to get everyone's thoughts. It's in Canada, a few provinces from me and nicely optioned. It's selling for $111k Canadian, which is around going rate. Maybe a bit under, but it's not pdk. It also has two owners with a total of 30k km. In my opinion, for pricing, it has three major reasons for significant negotiation- 2 owners, launch car, and manual, which less buyers tend to want. What do you think? Run away? I asked what room for negotiation there is and they only took $1500 off. I didn't counter offer. In fact I said call me when you're ready to deal much more. I'm considering just putting an offer on the table, but I think $1500 off plus a $700 admin fee added is not a great drop. Thanks.

Here you go. 2013 4S Launch car, manual. I have 25,000 miles on her and it is a flawless machine. Came from a TT and could not be happier. All the same options plus PDCC, PSE, PDLS, 20" Sport Design etc...

Race Car
My first 991S was a launch car - I bought it when it was two years old, 7200 miles on it and traded it in when it was four years old, 19k miles on it. It was a great car. The problems I had were fairly common to early build 991's - changeover valves, mainly, and all taken care of early under warranty. The last 18 months I had the car, I had no problems with it.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy a launch car. Have a PPI done on it.
EDIT: the two prior owners wouldn't bother me, either if the PPI was fine and it was in good condition.

When I bought my second 991S, it was CPO from a Porsche dealer. I did not have a PPI done and the car has been great.
I think a lot of it has to do with your faith in the dealership and your willingness to accept risk. Some people will tell you to get a PPI, even on a CPO car. Others will say that the risk is very low and to not worry about it. YMMV.

Did the dealer sale the car both times? Did you buy the GT4 from the same dealer?
They should have all the info on the car from birth..... look through it and make sure it all makes sense.
It looks like a great build...... drive in good health.

Thanks so much guys. I haven't had experience with them. I actually found out it's a launch and 2nd owner through the general Porsche preowned site. The sa didn't tell me, and that wasn't listed on the dealer site. So I unfortunately don't have the highest confidence so far. Maybe an external ppi is the way to go. I'll ask for all records too. Thanks again!

If it was just CPO'ed, then no need for a PPI. But sounds like it was CPO'ed for the 2nd owner, not now. In that case, many things could have happened to the car. An INDEPENDENT PPI is a must for any Porsche not just CPO'ed IMO. Good luck.

It's a decent deal from first glance, but I think I have to back away. I keep on finding out I was misinformed about some crucial facts: how many owners (told 1, found out 2), was it ever registered in Quebec (told no, found out yes). Quebec is the land of no buy- a lot of accidents occur here and never show up on the carfax. I'll just keep my feelers out, but thanks for all of the advice and support. I'll find that perfect c4s one day.

Bummer. There are plenty out there to choose from. The right one will come along.
My experience here in the states when I moved from one state to another and changed the registration on my vehicles it was logged by carfax as an owner change for some reason.
Just thinking the 1st owner of the car in question might have been the original dealer if they kept it a period of time.
