Base 991 tuning options. Available and worth it?
Thinking about jumping into the 911 field and thinking about a 991.1. Something tells me that the NA engine will hold value really strong as we get get further and further into the 991.2 and 992 models. Call me a moron if I'm wrong.
This this will be a weekender I don't want to go all out with a GTS so am looking at the base or the S. Are there any recommended options for mods/tunes that would give me a reasonable increase in bhp/torque for the money?

Don't think that the 991.1 is going to hold it's value, but who knows.
However, any turbo is going to be much easier to tune and you are going to be able to get much more HP. If you are looking to tune, I would look toward a base 991.2.

The 991's are mass produced cars. You can pick up a 996 or a 997 for a fraction of their original cost. The 993 is the last of the air cooled, which certainly adds to their price, but really it's about supply and demand. There were about 5000 Carrera S 993's built. A little less than the current 991.

If you haven't owned a 911 yet don't start with mods. Just buy the newest car you can afford and enjoy it. You don't even need an S - the base has plenty of power. My car is pushing toward 9 years old (bought new) and I am still marveling how perfect this car is out of the box.

The best bang for your buck is definitely weight savings: you'll want to remove the carpet and touchscreen and seats and stuff from the interior and sit on one of those plastic lawn chairs. Next if you really want to go fast start taking off body panels like the bumpers, and maybe even replace the wheels with ones with wire spokes like on a bicycle.

I would highly recommend to go for a 2012 c2s which price has came down to a decent point, and spend your money on the suspension like camber kit, monobail, DSC, GT3 swaybar and Coilover. If power is a must for you, bmc airfiter, akrapovic system, 100/200 cell cat, plenum, ecu upgrade. Probably give you another 40hp but aint cheap.
