Would you sell the 850CSI for a 911 or keep both?

Of course you keep the 850. It doesn’t cost you anything other than insurance. Just wait until you are ready and get the 911. Keep the 850 for sure.

Keep it.
I wouldve kept my M6 if i had room....not many V10 engines out there. With the limiter off, it will hit 200+mph

Items 1 and 3 above are easily solved, 3 more than 1. #2 can't help you with but I wouldn't sell the 850 for a 911. Keep it until you can figure out a way to afford the 911 if that's the issue.

Hi Andre, long time!
Get a 991 if you enjoy driving but with some modern amenities. Since yours isn't a CSi there's not a huge upside, and the electric rack in the 991 is 1000x better than the box in the e31. Could either keep it or sell it with little impact.
Mine is still with the owner I sold it to - OBD-1 M73 and 6 speed and all.
I love my 991 and I don't have to constantly wrench on it which is nice!

Keep both, they are each great cars in their own way.

Keep it. I'm a BMW fan up to and including the E9X gen 3 series.
You won't get a meaningful enough amount to appreciate selling it but almost certainly will miss it...

Just a thought here; in 40+ years of owning "enthusiast" cars I have found that much of the pleasure of ownership has more to do with the people you hang with than the car itself. That includes one-marque clubs, race groups or even forums like this one. If a car is a ticket to a community that is valuable to you, keep it if you possibly can. On the other hand, if it no longer fills that need, it's time to move on, there are lots of good cars.

There is a neglected 850 parked in a driveway a few blocks away. I'm tempted to pry it away from the unappreciative owners and make it a project car. Definitely keep it and add the 911!

I say let it go man. It had its time. You've had yours with it. Let someone else give it a go. Only a true enthusiast would buy that anyhow. So at least you know it will go to a good home. Memories are always better than looking it it parked in your garage not driven much.
