Thanks to all of you who have responded. Great wealth of knowledge, I intend to put to the task. Wish me luck, can't wait to introduce the car to you if I get it. If it wasn't a pretty special build, I probably wouldn't bother with all this hassle.

I used escrow.com to buy a used M5 a few years back. The process was smooth and both parties were protected and satisfied.

Good for you! The car looks great in the AT ad and sounds very special! Caveat Emptor on the deal, but I think you have that under control. Looking forward to the intro pics!
