Singer cars are art and as such they are worth every penny. I don't know how much it costs to build them but I presume they make a profit. As a business, it may be more profitable to sell custom parts so guys could experience some of the Singer magic without building a whole car.

They remind me of the custom bike craze in the nineties. Guys would pay $100,000 (or more) for a bike. My good friend had one and it was beautiful to look and awesome to ride. But you dare not call it a Harley!

I respect what Singer does but I don't lust after them. As somewhat of a purist, I prefer my Porsche to be built in Germany not by an Englishman in California, lol. I would much rather have a Pur Sang Bugatti. In fact, I find myself planning for that purchase at least once a week. It's a bargain compared to a Singer.

And why does Singer say the engine is by Cosworth when it's built by Ed Pink?

I totally miss the Singer appeal. Not that they aren't cool cars but not what I would ever desire.

I can't think of them as "art" either because Porsche has already delivered its original masterpiece and Singer only tweaked it. If Singer painted a new hairdo on the Mona Lisa would that be "art". Even if they spent 50,000 hours on it? If Singer put new pickups and a paintjob on a 90's Gibson Les Paul would it be better, or worth more than, the original '59 Burst?

If you go back and view some of their earlier videos they talk about the Cosworth relationship dissolving and Ed Pink being selected to start building for them.

Something about going from 3.8 to 4.0L.....

It was sarcasm at all the PC-ness going around. On some college campuses, that phrase (work harder) makes students feel oppressed.

Sorry, sometimes that doesn't translate well via the typed word.

Are you certain the PFAFF Singer commission is for sale? I thought that was their demo car to help fetch new Singer clients. The colour scheme on the car has personal meaning to the owner of PFAFF, so I'm wondering if he'd really want to sell it.

My salesman told me it was for sale. I was not in the market. I was there to pick colours on my 2018 gts 4.

Now *that's* interesting news! Thanks for confirming. Did they mention price?

Coincidentally, I just ordered a Targa 4 GTS myself. Congrats to you.

A million sounds high. C$875 to 900 sounds closer to reality. It's that darned exchange rate. US$650 or so, I think.
