Default Question for 18-way seat owners

Did you guys get the leather covering for the seat back?

I'm getting black interior and my wife likes the carbon fiber trim.

I'll be putting a kid in the back - I've heard the plastic scratches. Haven't seen either very closely and nothing on the dealer lot to examine. Not sure if the plastic back looks/feels cheap in person.

I hate to spend $1800 on friggin seat backs - but here we are.

I've had two 991S's, one with the silver plastic back and one with the leather covered back (both 18 way seats). The leather one looks light years better. Mine was CPO so some other person paid for them (thank you, anonymous previous owner!).

I have young kids in the back seat and I make the youngest wear booties over their shoes when they get in the car. The oldest knows well enough to try to not scuff up the back of the seat.

I looked at that as a very expensive option that I would never really look at to appreciate. My back seat passengers don't care, they just want the Targa top down and for me to go fast

I don't have the leather...and it's the one option I regret not happening

Volcano grey looks so cheap

I paid for the leather-backed 18-ways. I was less worried about the physical properties than with the overall look and how they integrated with the rest of the interior. The silver plastic can look ok or not depending on other interior choices. With a two-tone interior you almost have to get the leather, unless you like a cacophony of contrasts. IMO.

Got 'em, love 'em, thank you dealer for making a mistake on the transmission-of-choice and having to place another order for the intended buyer. But I digress.

Get the leather and cover up the kiddies' shoes.
We don't have kids so the worst I've had to transport yet in the rear seats: bags upon bags of fresh vegetables to indulge the wife's habit of visiting all local farms, every summer, twice!
Of course there are benefits to be derived on the twisty roads often leading up to those!

Mine looks fine without the leather on back. I put all of the emphasis in the front with some deviated stitching and mahogany.

Leather looks good but it's pricey. I'd never spec it.

Thanks guys. It does seem that there is some consensus that the leather seat backs look good, so I've decided to spec it.

It's the one option I've picked that really irritates me. Such a stupid way to blow nearly 2 grand. I just know that I'm going to be using the back seat pretty regularly for my little girl and will be regularly folding over the front seat for access. I have a feeling that every time I look and feel the back of the seat, it's going to irritate me more than the $1800 I spend now.

I ordered a base coupe with black leather interior with the 4-way sport seat plus (saved over the 18 way and I never adjust my seat after it's set) and ordered the leather seat backs to complete the look, completely happy I ordered it even at the cost.

On a CAB or Targa it is a great choice and can be appreciated....They are seen and appreciated by you and the public----On a coupe-----it is not seen by anyone really----spend the money on PCCB's----best option in my opinion

Cheers

Seems to me you could have the seatback plastic wrapped in vinyl for a few hundred bucks and it would be easier to replace if damaged by your children and completely reversible. Just a thought.

Cheers,

I'm surprised Porsche doesn't color match the plastic seat back to the color of the interior as standard.

I have a gray interior so the leather seat backs are a nice touch.

If I was to order a car with a black interior I probably would forgo the leather seat back option.

I have the plastic backs and like them a lot. They're not cheap looking at all. My kid gets in the back sometimes, but the thing I like is I play hockey and sometimes gear ends up in the car and I just want less leather with the opportunity to scuff.

In my last 911, I had my detail shop put matte clearbra on the back of the seat. Worked and looked great.
