Default Rubystar Neo afficianados

I am currently torn between rubystar neo and python green for my T build which locks on 1/24. May have one of the first if I decide to do it based on configurator images and press release images from the style edition boxster.

I have asked my dealer to contact me as soon as he gets a color sample. Really want to see it next to PTS Rubystar before committing. Also would be nice to see it next to the original Rubystone.

The description on the configurator and from Porsche says that it is darker and less saturated but if you put the colors side by side on the configurator the Neo looks less dark and brighter.

So if anyone else is thinking of going this route please hound your dealers about paint samples and or images of actual vehicles painted that color from the factory.

TIA

Right now my T order is Gentian Blue but I have been considering changing to ruby star neo. I was hoping my dealer would have gotten swatches so I could see the true paint color in different lighting conditions but so far they have not received any. I am worried since I have seen some very unflattering pictures of PTS ruby star, and the depiction in the configurator does not seem to match the description by porsche, to my eye it looks lighter and more saturated than PTS ruby star in the config. It could be a really great color but feels like a risk that I’m not sure I’m willing to take without seeing it on other cars. My freeze date is 1/21 so I don’t have much time to decide.

Yeah, I like the description by Porsche which I am hoping is a little more on the purple spectrum.

same situation. my build locks 1/31. salesman said they’d likely never get a rubystar neo sample, so a good chance I’m going with Python. I emailed Porsche NA my dilemma and have heard no response.

So I spent hours this morning to search google photos and came up with the image on the left that was posted on Pistonheads thread. This image is of Boxster painted in PTS Rubystar. Other images posted in the thread show pictures of 911's that depict the paint color to be more pink whereas the owner of this vehicle says this is a more accurate representation and is an image of his wife's car. I agree with him. This is one of the darker images of PTS Rubystar I could find. Now the image on the right is the style edition Boxster, the only known vehicle that has actually been painted this color, at similar angle. I realize the lighting is natural on the left and studio lighting on the right but still think the description from Porsche is accurate darker and less saturated. I really think Porsche screwed the pooch on the configurator with Rubystar Neo (fingers crossed). The configurator depicts the color as more reddish and in my opinion the actual color skews more along the purple spectrum. I hope this helps someone. If you guys agree or disagree let me know. I am posting links to the Pistonheads thread and Link to the press release for the style edition Boxster. You can get hi res images of the style edition Boxster from there. :

If those press shots are accurate and it is truly that dark I think the 911 will look great with it.

I stumbled across a ruby star style edition Boxster in Europe this fall. It was very pink to my eyes. Nothing ruby or dark about it. I love bold colors for Porsches but it was too much for me.

The style edition Boxster is not available for sale yet. Did you see this at a Porsche sponsored event? Otherwise what you saw may have been regular Rubystar.

"According to Porsche, the Ruby Star Neo is a new interpretation or 'Neo' of the of the very popular, historic Porsche color, Ruby Star. Compared to the historic color, the Neo does seem slightly darker and less saturated with a modern touch."

I like the bold/bright colors too, and am leaning racing yellow. Ruby Star could work, but I am not impressed with the configurator view. I really want to see it in person but seems very unlikely. I would want it to be more purple than pink vs the PTS Ruby Star. I'm sure it will look good regardless but feels a bit risky ordering sight unseen and without real world accounts. Maybe some cars will show up soon.

I have a feeling ruby star neo buyers are going to be very happy.

and this is the problem. we’ve got a video of someone so disappointed with the paint he had it REPAINTED. This is why we need to see Neo and why it’s so disappointing we likely won’t anytime soon.
