I'm weird like that, I also like the idea of dark brown leather!

I'd also do manual, happy to row. If Porsche wants to sell me a configured 911R at MSRP or a little above, sign me up.

However once the first frenzy by the MT starved subsides and production arcs over 2000 units things will return to a more reasonable equilibrium. Having a dealer relationship is essential if you want in on the ground floor.
Porsche has already publicly said that they are making fewer sports cars to protect the brand image, so I can't imagine they're gonna flood the market with GT3s. And i've yet to see anybody get a configurable RS allocation who wasn't on a list early with dealer connections. Almost all the latest RS's that showed up were dealer specced cars and all carried a premium. I recall one configurable allocation discussed on here, and it was at a premium.

If the GT3 is as awesome as they say AND configurable allocations are available at MSRP, I will probably be in the market for one in 2018, but I'm not holding my breath. From what has been discussed in the GT3 forum, dealer lists are already very lengthy.

+1. For the much better 6 speed. 7 speed really ruins the 991. Now is the time to lay down a deposit if you would like a shot at one.

I feel pretty confident I would get a GT3 if I wanted to and put my name down. At MSRP. Maybe not this year but certainly in 2018. It's not a limited edition car.

Yup. That's why I find it comical that people are thinking they're just gonna go on the configurator, spec one out and buy it. If you ain't already gots your spot on a list, you likely ain't getting a car, unless you want to play the premium game.

I'll bet you get one. But I'd bet the list your on is 20+ deep behind you, with most having little chance at a configurable allocation.

If you have a great relationship with a dealership that you know from past experience would do that for you, you may be right. If you don't, I think you're gonna learn the hard way the difference between buying a regular Porsche vs. a GT car.

Alternatively, if you know of a dealer guaranteeing MSRP allocations, please let me/us know. A lot of people would be very interested in knowing.

My guess is $145-148k USD, given the price increases on the other .2's, with a well specced car in the $170-180k range.
