Sunroof and resale
#46
Must be a SoCal thing, and there is at least a small market of us.. I'm originally from OC and my GTS is PDK, sunroof delete and Sports Plus 4 Way Seats for light weight. Also left out electronic gadgets like memory, back up cameras adaptive cruise. I didn't consider resale because my goal is to keep my "first" 911 and pass it on.

I won't even look at a current Porsche with a sun roof. My 996 had one and I NEVER opened it. My current 991 does not. The only thing anyone has ever said was Nice no sunroof. I get that every couple of weeks.
But some folks love them.

Swedish study of 30,000 women over 20 years. More sun exposure = longer life.

Purchased the 50th used and the sunroof was nice...just not for me. Sunroofs are heavy up top, fairly expensive, over time..creakier, the maintenance factor, and not enough head room with a helmet on for us taller body types (6"3"). Also like the darker cockpit and smoother lines no matter what the color. Went through the expense $$ of deleting the sunroof on a previously owned 94 928 GTS while in for paint. Now own a cab which is great and two sunroof delete 928's. Started the: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...-for-sale.html sticky and notice the sunroof delete cars..when you can find them always fetch a premium. OP go for it T
Pretty 50th, btw
Torsional rigidity on the Targa is shockingly low. Total noodle.

First, let me say that everybody is different. I'm one of those who would not buy a 911 without sunroof, under any circumstances, no way. I love it - tilted up - all the time, for extra acoustics of my Sport Exhaust turned on all the time (unless I see a Police Patrol Car or am driving into a church or a funeral), and for lowering my interior temperatures down when I park my 911 outdoors. It looks awesome in Black Glass on my Guards Red 911 with Black wheels. IMO, a sunroof helps sell a Porsche...
On the other hand, there are also those folks who would not buy a 911 with a sunroof. They do not want either the added cost or the extra weight adding sunroof up on top of their 911.
So you have to figure it out and do what you want, for you.

If you want chassis rigidity you buy a Cayman ~ 10,000 ft lbs more torsional rigidity per degree than the 911.

Had sunroofs on my past 911's and never opened them. On my '17 coupe went with no sunroof and never looked back. If you really like open air motoring, get a cab.
