Number of Owners, Does it Matter?

Number of Owners, Does it Matter?
I've been an on and off casual reader for some time now, but finally I am ready to take the plunge. I've been looking at 999.1 4s particularly with PSE, PDK, Chrono, PASM.
Does the number of prior owners negatively impact current price and future price? If so, is there any reasonable way to quantify it?
Here is an example I found on the search agent that already had 2 owners, very low miles, and is CPO.

Would you purchase a 2 owner car with such low miles?
Would you buy a 3 owner CPO car?
Thanks in advance.

Wow, that car sat in the garage of two owners. Two thousand miles? Ridiculous. Sorry, I have no idea about how it affects depreciation, but it seems like a good deal for basically a new car with good options and warranty.

In my experience, the number of owners when greater than one doesn't really matter. I could see a one-owner car demanding a small premium but after that doesn't really matter whether it's 2 or 3 or 4 owners as long as the car is clean with a clear history.
However, I would do a bit more due diligence when a car has more owners (e.g., call dealer to pull all service records and try to obtain story behind the car). Most of the time, with a bit of effort, you'll be able to understand the story of the car and why it's been sold so many times. You should feel comfortable with the car's history. If not move on.
In the vast majority of cases, just because a car has multiple prior owners over a short period of time does not mean there's something wrong with the car.
Focus on ensuring that it's not a lemon with some recurring problem(s) accounting for the high turnover.

Wouldn't matter at all to me.
In the F-car world the cars change hands all the time. I've been the fifth owner on cars that are only three or four years old.

Depends on #, mileage, time frame, situation. It mattered to me when I looked and in the end I had a choice between a 1 owner and 4 owner car of same miles, guess which I picked ? In my case, 7MT - that's 3 less people's clutch skills I don't have to worry about. That's 3 more people not having to show off the car to friends doing stupid tricks and potentially abusing it... Also lots of of owners in a short time span could indicate something wrong and a car that was offloaded several times... If the carfax or whatever indicated a repeat visit to the dealer for an electrical issue and 4 owners, then you have your answer.
Otherwise, not a disqualifying factor... just one factor out of many...

If it matters for the next buyer, it should matter to you... Hard to quatify, but "caeteris paribus" all the ones that responded that it doesn't matter would rather buy a "1 owner" than a "4 owner" for the same price.

It seems to be fairly common with higher end cars and owners who like to switch frequently. If that's the real reason, it wouldn't bother me, especially if cpo'd. The other side of this is that the car switched hands 8 times because of a recurring issue that each owner wanted to move on from and pass onto the next owner.
