Default Afraid to drive long distances

Guys,
My 991.1 C2 is the first car I own without a spare tire.
I was not expecting the side effect of this: I'm afraid to drive long distance. For example, I will visit friends next week on a 1500 miles round trip and I'm inclined to take my other car.
The issue is that I always try to take the long way home. Mountain passes, back roads etc. Away from the freeway.
And that means no cellphone service sometimes.
I know I will have to get over this as it is silly. I know. It is just being harder than I thought it would be.
So do you travel long distances with your car? No concerns?
Thanks.

Buy yourself a tire patch kit, it will definitely help. Also, there is the slime stuff that works as well. Don't let that fear spoil your enjoyment of the car!

The entire car is designed and engineered to high degrees of excellence. No doubt, tire failures do happen. There is a very well thought out repair kit in your vehicle. Some people also bring plug kits, I have not added that to mine.

It doesn't bother me. My wife and I took a fall color tour of about 800 miles through several remote mountain passes this year. I wasn't concerned.

You could always buy the spare tire kit if you are really concerned. It's not cheap, but it might give you some peace of mind.

I understand your anxiety. I've never had a flat but my wife has had at least 7. Her DD has a full size tire so she has never been stranded. I have a friend who had a flat between Palm Springs and Los Angeles. He waited 5 hours (in a 110 degrees) for the tow truck. He sold the car the next day. All that being said, I've taken 1500 miles trips and never had an issue.

I routinely do +1,000 mile trips. Never think about it.

3 things:

Tire plugs
Charged cell phone
Credit card

No spare is a fact of life in many sport vehicles these days, even my Volvo V60 Wagon does not have a spare. I just did a 20 day, 3500 km road trip in Europe, mostly on the smaller twisty roads, in a Box-GTS. It did have the Slime Kit, and I did have a Cell Phone and Credit cards to pay for help. A risk? Yes, but in my mind a controlled risk.

I have the same anxiety and keep a can of fix-a-flat and a plug kit in the trunk. Haven't had a flat tire in years but a couple months after getting the 991, I got a TPMS warning. Pulled the wheel off and it had two nails in it.

Wide sticky tires = nail magnets.

What does a slime kit do to TPMS sensors?

I caught a flat once on the way back from Boxstoberfest. The hole was so big the slime was ineffective.

It happened on a Sunday, so 1-800-PORSCHE couldn't tow the car to a Porsche dealer. I had to call my own tow and take it to NTB. They made a mess of my wheel and I had to get it repaired later.

I now travel with a patch kit.
