The salesperson told me it had been ordered by a snow-bird but his trade-in did not live up to expectations. Since it was base they were anxious to sell it. I (mistakenly) traded the 993 for the 991. The salesman immediately bought the 993 from the dealership. I have tried to buy it back with no response. I sold the PDK 991.1 15 months later and ordered the 2015 991 MT GTS that you see in the Avatar. I am contented!

Regarding dealer washing, I refuse it kindly on all my cars (2014,2015,2016). I have never seen more destruction on a vehicle than a "dealer washing". My Porsche dealer does not even dry the car. It returns with more swirls than when I delivered it. They can even manage to disfigure a perfectly clean, detailed car. I have been patient but the three dealers know that unless they can improve how it looks when I bring it in (unlikely), they are wasting their time and money. Many folks may not be as concerned about finished quality as am I. Just call be compulsive and start the raves. Look at my others: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/87396...-porsches.html.
You are smart. I took my 991.1 to the dealer 2 days after buying my first 911 and when they did the courtesy car wash they scratched my car!! I was furious. Never again will I allow them to wash my car....

Haha a couple of thoughts.

No offense to all other models but the GT cars are special because they're limited production thereby creating hysteria amongst Porsche-files. All other models depreciate like rocks. My general thought is that if I get an allocation I will either 1. Sell the car immediately or 2. Keep the car for little while and then sell it. The GT

Sorry typing on my iPhone. Last line was going to read that the GT hysteria has no signs of slowing. I'm not saying that the GTs are any better than any other models. I'm just saying that they're not terrible from a financial standpoint. If you were lucky enough to get a GT3RS allocation you could have easily doubled your money. Sorry the purpose of the thread was not to take a deep dive into car detailing or prompt puns about taking a bath. Lol.

As much as I love my GTS, it is very much not a GT[n] car. I think I'm glad there is no option to add the rear seats back, otherwise I would have serious 991.2 GT3 (4.0, MT) lust.

Some advice. Don't post this on the Gt3 forum. Flippers who takes spots on the list with no intention of keeping the car are frowned upon by the GT3 illuminati.

Or just had a really awesome car to drive. Most Porschephiles aren't in it for the benjamins. Shame it's come to that and there are so many RSs sitting around gathering dust instead of being driven.

Honestly @archimedes my current plan - if I am lucky enough to get an allocation - is to build my dream car and take European Delivery and keep it. I would have to make a decision as to whether or not to keep my current Porsche (2013 C2S) as a daily driver or to trade it in and lease a practical daily driver.

Yes of course I could daily drive a GT3 but with all the bad drivers & terrible roads here in Charleston I would probably limit it to a weekend/evening driver.

It will be interesting to follow the GT3 press releases as they become available. So far one of the Porsche bosses has confirmed that it will share the RSR's engine which already makes it a really special car. And sorry purists I would order it with a PDK transmission, full leather ... and yes I would keep the wing, haha.

Ahhhhh, no. Your math is way off. As is your effort assessment.
