GTS - manual or PDK; coupe or cab?
In the recent forum showing many beautiful 991 GTS vehicles, I noticed that the majority were coupe with manual transmission. This got me thinking - are GTS drivers more likely to opt for a coupe with MT? I read that 80% of the 991s sold in the US are PDK but I suspect that percentage does not hold true for the GTS. Targa drivers - I am sorry that I forgot a category for you and I can't figure out how to edit the poll...please consider your car a "cab." Looking forward to your feedback!

This is an enthusiast site. You'll always see more manual drivers compared to the real world. And a disproportionate number of grumps using the ridiculous phrase "proper manual".

Old cavemen clinging to their sticks and past glory!
Embrace the PDK!!
I kid I kid, but not about the PDK.
Wish I could do 1 of each but the versatility of the PDK won this round.
Next one might be Manual just to have one of each and finally settle this damned debate

Back seat + manual + NA was why I needed a GTS. Even with the 991.2 GT3 getting a manual option, the lack of rear seats for kiddos kills it. Changes it from something you can drive every day to just a fun toy. (and for 2 seater fun toys there is a wide range of things to choose from, starting with Caymans...mmm GT4...)
Seriously though, anyone who wants premium a manual sports car with a back seat doesn't have a ton of options. I mean, there's the Shelby GT350 in terms of being an amazing car, but fit/finish/details it's not a Porsche.
Super happy with the car, it doesn't feel like a compromise at all, but it's a bit scary how few options there are to cross-shop against when you put "manual + backseat + NA" in the $100K+ sports car category.

PDK on the GTS which is what I wanted to try after owning an S with 7MT. Definitely amazing.
PDK is way better than the R8 R tronic. There is just no comparison. It's just a great all around transmission suitable many types of drives.

Love my Cab GTS with PDK. It performs well in just about any driving environment. Traffic, track sun up or sun down its a blast. But any ride on your list is going to be the best car you have ever owned so you won't be missing out with your pick. Just go with your gut.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm a cab/PDK guy myself. I never drove a manual growing up, but having grown accustomed to working the gears in manual mode, I can see where driving a manual could be a lot of fun - along an empty Pacific Coast Highway or in Angeles National Forest. Driving a manual in LA gridlock would grow old for me. The PDK is the perfect transmission for me because I can work the gears or let the car call the shots, depending on my mood and the driving situation. As for the cab, living by the beach in So Cal begs for top-down driving, and it is remarkable how much louder the glorious NA flat-six sounds when the top is down.

Cab's don't get enough love here IMO... So many variables. For a primary car, most would likely go with a coupe but the 991 cab is the most versatile 911 to date with the retractable hardtop. It's as quiet as a coupe with the magnesium panels.
Many just don't like cabs.... earlier cars had body flex issues like most convertibles and while even the 991 has some - it really is minimal and will only be exposed under extreme driving. This is why SPAM is only available on Coupes. I love my Cab and also love having a convertible but it's my second car and a toy more than an appliance.
