Default Musicar Northwest Group Buy — 991 High-End Tweeter Upgrade

We've had a good amount of interest lately in putting together a few simple ways to improve the sound quality in the 991 platform. Because of that, I decided to put together a group buy for our recently developed Dynaudio tweeter system. This is something we've had available as a custom one-off piece for our local crowd, but this group buy allows anyone in need of better sound to acquire a set.

*** UPDATE 10/30/2023 ***

We are still offering tweeter upgrades as well as full system upgrades for the 991 platform. Our website will be updated before the end of the year, but in the meantime, please send an email to porsche.audio@musicarnw.com for more information.

*** ***

The factory tweeters can be harsh and fatiguing. This upgrade is the best way to easily improve the resolution, clarity, and detail of your Porsche's audio system. Although most of the complaints we get are from Bose owners, the tweeter upgrade is designed to improve the sound of any factory system including Burmester and Sound Package Plus. They are built to utilize factory hardware locations so they are a direct fit. The wiring is direct fit using a plug and play adapter — no modification to the car required. It's also a simple DIY install that should take a professional or enthusiast no more than an hour.

In the kit
  • Custom Dynaudio Tweeter for Porsche
  • Passive Crossover
  • OEM Porsche Burmester Grilles
  • Mounting Hardware

Price - $795 Shipped (within the US)
*$695 without Burmester grilles and mounting hardware.

In an effort to take care of everyone in a more timely manner, these tweeters are now available outside of the group buy! They are built to order and take anywhere from 1-2 weeks depending on the availability/need for upgraded grilles. Please email me to put in your order! (nick.akin@musicarnw.com)

Nothing special. You should use a plastic pry tool to remove the grilles and not a screwdriver, but that's really it. The new tweeters will mount with standard hardware.

I am very curious about this and interested. I know the work and product will be top notch from your posts and accolades on this forum.

I am not an audiophile, do you think the average listener will discern an improvement?

Thanks!

I am the opposite. I wonder if an audiophile will truly appreciate it without a stronger amp and better bass.

Nick had mentioned that the Burmester grill is physically more open than the Bose although I've heard of people dremeling their old grill and using their Bose grill with the Burmester tweeter mod.

Bose tweeters are molded into the cover. Burmester tweeters get mounted to the bracket that is there with the Burmester or not.

The Bose tweeters are truly JUNK. Literally a $5 tweeter. Embarrassing.
