Serious Porsche is Serious.
Damn, that's a massive outlay of cash for 30 HP. But I am sure all the smiles you get will make it worth it! Love the pics too, thanks!
Gonna sell your IPD plenum? If so, PM me.

I have to admit, seeing the engine "guts" is exciting for me! LOL
How many miles did you have on your cab at the time of install? I've heard that there are some variances in install procedures / requirements based on engine mileage -- curious if this was spelled-out by the work order at the dealer?

"If the engine to be converted has a mileage of over 25,000 miles (40,000 km), the crankshaft main bearings and connecting-rod bearings must also be replaced. If there is obvious wear on the connecting-rod bushings (scores), the connecting rods must also be replaced."
This is a direct quote from the installation and conversion instructions from Porsche. So my timing is good albeit a little later than I would of liked. I considered this mod for almost one year and 6k miles!

I will do an oil change after 1,500 miles (25,000 total on my car). It is not required but by me! Oil was last changed at 23,000 so it is almost fresh. And I just learned it gets fresh oil now too. Thanks for your "support"!

They estimated (supported by Porsche information) of 40 hours. We agreed to do it at their convenience in December or January. I just had to keep the mileage below 25,000 miles. The kit sat at the dealership for about 4 weeks. My SA called last week and said "Merry Christmas" we can do it 5-9 Dec. The original agreed price was $6000. I had to buy (on my mechanics recommendation) 16 (8 per side) new head bolts that did not come with the kit, at a price of $178. The mechanic said he had never reused head bolts before and wasn't sure why Porsche didn't include and require them, but better to be safe than sorry for less than $200! He said they get "torqued to yield". So I assume that is a metal stretching term. Total cost for the mod will be just under $15,500. I hope to recover some cost with selling some parts but not counting on it. I love the car, this will be the "cats meow" for me.

Another way to look at it. The current Base vs the S is a price gap of $14,000 for a 50 HP bump. That's $280 per HP. It always cost more to get the ponnies after the factory.

Rob, what does the inside of the plenum look like?
Is there are split for the air to the two sides like the IPD? Smooth inside?
I've never seen the X51 one for sale separately. I'm sure you can get it. Probably cheaper getting the IPD. Plus don't know if the X51 one is only made to fit the X51 air intakes (???) that connect to either side of it.

I will swing by the dealership tomorrow and try and get a picture of the opening. I do know that it isn't "hollow" in the middle like the IPD with Y design. And there are 3 soloniods (vacuum actuated I think) on the X51 intake vs just one soloniod of the stock intake including IPD plenum.
Although pricey, having X51 is a unique and somewhat special in my eyes.
I would do it just to know i have it, not as much for the few ponies. although those ponies is awesome as well. And if you know your car well, you will fill them.
