I have the 14 ways in my C4 and they are actually the most uncomfortable Porsche 911 seat I've sat in from what I can recall and that is from 993 gen and on. I'm a young guy (6 feet 170 lbs) and after only 30-45 min driving my lower back starts to cry and I did 6-7 hours no problem/issues in the 991 4 way sport seat plus and 993 sport seat recently. But everyone is different so that's not to say the 14 ways aren't the best fit for you.

The OP should test the 14-ways before swapping their 18-way seats. I am of average build, 5 11 and 175 lbs. Wear a 42 suit. I had the 14-ways in my Boxster. They were extremely uncomfortable for my frame. My shoulders were outside the tapered seatback and the edges used to dig into my shoulder blades. I have the 18-ways in my 911. I have the bolsters completely flat and I fit comfortably inside the seat backs. Much better seats for me. If you are a large person, both the 14-ways and the 18-ways will dig into your back.

Someone posted that seats with heating and air cooling have thinner fabric on the seat bottom. That makes sense to me. I am very comfortable in my 14 ways with heat and air cooling, but wold like to try out 18 ways with sport tex and heating. Sport tex seems to be a rare order and haven't seen any come into my dealership to try out.

Another data point is if you get a leather interior, the back of the 14 way are leather except the kick/scuff pad which is still color matched. On the 18 way its that ugly plastic shell, and you have to pay extra ~ $1870 to have the seat back covered in leather. I test drove both seats extensively and felt the 14 way was all the support I needed, and looked way better if you are concerned about such things.

I'd suggest the parties making the swap take pictures of the wiring harness and connectors before you ship seats. Better to count connector pins before you go to further trouble.
I'd guess seats with memory wouldn't be compatible. I'd guess those without memory would be ok, as everything would be pretty self contained to the seat.

Hi all,
I have a 2017 Base with 14 ways heated only, black. Unfortunately due to my body type I cannot get comfortable in the seats. I am located in the DFW area, if anyone is interested in swapping for 18 ways, I would be very interested and would pay extra cash. Thanks.

I'm curious if I'd like the 18 ways better. I'm 6' 200 and the 14s are so comfortable to me in almost every way except the bolsters on the sides go up just a little too high so my lats can't comfortably fit back into them. I'm wondering if the 18s are better or worse in that regard.
Fwiw, my 18-ways in new Macan are very comfortable.
