Default How to avoid lip touching driveway slope

Hi
Have a sense front lip on new 991.2 may just be touching a hair or two when I back up out of driveway.
see pic below.
any tips? Would activating sport suspension tighten it up and prevent? Any other ideas?
Want to keep the lip as pristine as possible!
Thanks in advance

Its all about angles. Don't back straight out, take it as close to a 45 degree angle to the street and you should be fine.

Yes, 45 is what I do too and I have -20mm Sport PASM with a little more rise than what I see in your driveway.

So just so it doesn't cause concern, when you perform the angled entry or exit, the low-side front wheel may actually lift in the air a little. When I'm backing, touching the brakes a little will trigger a small ABS reaction due to the tire having no traction. It's not a problem.

And oh yeah, as to your sport suspension question. It doesn't help at low speeds like your driveway. But there a few dips at intersections around town where I will turn on PASM momentarily before I cross to minimize the front lip scuff I occasionally hear, at least when traffic isn't so that I can't angle the car before crossing without scaring folks to the sides or slowing down too much and risking getting rear-ended. I'm certain it helps at speed like that.

The front lip is an inexpensive wear item. Don't stress yourself out.

I agree with all of the above,

1. Slow speeds
2. 45 degrees
3. and inexpensive front lip

Maybe this would help? Built for a curb and gutter system but you might be able to try it.

There is no hope other than your own driveway. I have made the modifications at home but all my damage comes from every commercial drive I must pull into: the gas station, the bank, my doctors, the market....you name it. I go in at 45 degrees. Sometime that does not help. I keep a spare, painted lip in my garage for frequent replacement. There is no cure. The mechanical lift system is only available on the GT3 as I was told. Porsche is responsible for this defect which they have yet to cure given the complaints. Otherwise, my 2015 991 GTS is fantastic, It just always has a skuffed lip. It is cosmetic but not mechanical. I drive it proudly, skuffed.

If you don't scrape or knock that lip off at some point of ownership your not driving aggressive enough.

My 991.1 with SPASM and aerokit lip it's cracked and scraped up but still holding it's own.

thanks for all the comments!
981 cayman didnt scrape at all. guess this one is just a little lower!

i'll try the 45 degree and will order a new lip from suncoast, just in case!
when you say 45 degrees, is that the whole car or just the front wheels?

I use a double layer of duct tape on my low GTS aero cup lip. It takes the damage and I renew it in 5 minutes. Saw it on another thread.

That driveway isn't steep at all. You shouldn't be scraping there unless you are coming dead straight in. That incline should only require a moderate angle.

Use the same technique when going over speed bump or other inclines.

+1, that's a driveway I wish I had! All you need to do is back out (or enter) at an angle.

If you're backing out, start turning the steering wheel before your rear wheels are on the street. That way, your car is already at an angle when the front wheels are coming off the driveway. Many drivers wait until the car is *almost* off of the driveway and then begin to turn the wheel; no bueno.

Same exact process when entering the driveway: approach it at an angle and let the front wheels get onto your driveway when the front of the car is at a ~45 degree angle.
