Default Made the switch CPO 991.2 C2S

I was bitten with the .2 bug after going to Porsche driving school and experiencing the low end torque first hand so I decided I was ready to move to the 991.2 platform. I looked at a few new cars but the price differential was more than I wanted to deal with so I kept coming back to this one. A 2017 CPO with 700 miles on the clock. The other new cars I looked at had more interior options including PDLS, Sunroof, adjust seats, Bose, Burmester, etc.

On a whim thinking I really wouldn't buy this car I called Southpoint Porsche in Durham and spoke with SA Kim Smith. We had a really good conversation over the phone and because I was a few hours away he face timed me the next morning to show me the car and answer my questions. He also gave me his opinion on the stereo which was that it was similar to the Bose I had in my car.

Options on my new to me car.....

Carrera 2S
GT Silver
Carrera Wheels Silver
Leather Interior Two Tone Black/Bordeaux
Base Stereo
4 Way seats
PDK
PDCC
Sport PASM
Sport Package
Front Axle Lift
Front Seat Heating

I would not have spec'd a car so sparsely regarding the headlights/stereo/seats and I was unsure about driving a few hours to look at it. But I decided to give it a shot.

When I arrived SA Kim at Southpoint had the car cleaned up and waiting inside for me to check out which was nice since it was cold and windy outside. Kim was quite patient allowing me to carefully look over the car and was able to easily answer the questions I had about the car including why it was traded in so soon.

I actually found the 4 way seats to be just fine for me. I do not mind the manual slide forward at all. The rest of the seat felt the same as my 14 ways on the car I traded (14 C2S).

I was also very concerned about the base Porsche stereo but frankly I could not tell much difference between that and the Bose in my 14. I did test drive a new C4S with the Bose and it is better than the base stereo and much better than the Bose on my 14 C2S IMO. There is a fair bit of road noise in the 911 so the stereo does take a back seat to that while driving at highway speeds on noisier roads.

The console computer and nav system is much improved vs my 14. So fast and so easy to use.

The red leather interior with red deviated stitching was stunning in person and the new leather smell was working its magic on me. So we went for a test ride and the car performed great as I knew it would.

I was able to negotiate a decent price on my old car and the new car, and they were ready to move the car I purchased so a deal was reached.

Regarding resale for anyone interested....apparently a few folks called about this car and the lack of a sunroof and the 14/18 way adjustable seats were what kept most people from buying it. So keep that in mind if you are ordering a car considering future resale. I could care less about a sunroof and the 4 way seats fit me just as well as the 14 ways I had in my previous car.

I did feel sad for my 14 C2S as I drove off the lot, like I was leaving a friend.

The exhaust note on the .2 cars is much quieter than the .1 cars even the .1 cars without sport exhaust like mine was. So if that is important to you the sport exhaust is a minimum on the .2 cars.

Regarding the ride....well the .2 accelerates much quicker than the .1 cars. The N/A exhaust note is gone which is an issue for some but not for me. PDCC and Sport PASM is noticeably stiffer than my PASM 14 C2S. It is easy to exceed the speed limit in this car without even realizing it....soooo easy.

Did I mention GT Silver is just beautiful...?

I had strongly considered Red Blue and Yellow but because I drive the car almost daily elected to go with GT Silver to show less dirt. It really is a fantastic color in the showroom and out in the sun.

While I was there the new owner of a 911 R was about to pic up their car.

I had a very pleasant and easy straightforward experience at Southpoint Porsche in Durham and my SA Kim was great to deal with. The Southpoint Porsche store has been remodeled and is huge for a dealership and includes a few older cars in the showroom to look at. If you are going to order a car they have a dedicated room to allow you to see various exterior colors and interior materials and colors with a larger screen TV to show the build. Of course there is a nice reception area with a TV and plenty of seating with plenty of refreshments.

While I was there I also got to see a 918 being serviced. The service bays are visible through larger windows from the waiting area so you can see your car being worked on. The service bays are also clean and neat.

That interior is stunning! Congrats!!! Although you do look a little on the young side to be driving a Porsche.....

Nice performance-oriented build and a beautiful color!

Wow, a 991 R, very cool! Haven't seen one in person yet.

Is it too early to start a hot for sale thread on the 991.2's? LOL!

Congrats on the new car! Either you have aged very-very well or you had a good looking young son with you. -J

The R is pretty cool too.

Your car looks very nice, I saw it in person with a sold sticker/sign on it when it was inside a few weeks ago. Enjoy it in good health. I ordered a car with Edwin, the people at that dealership are really good people. I wonder if the R is going into the Ingram collection that resides close to there? They have some nicer older cars that rotate into the showroom from time to time.

Looks like Va tags, what part of Virginia are you from? Might have to meet up if close to go driving in the mountains one day when mine comes in.

Not sure about the sold sign as I purchased the car this morning. The 911R is going to the Ingram Collection. As a gift from Southpoint I received a hard bound book of the Ingram Collection, truly worth reading and much appreciated.

I am in the Tidewater area of VA.

Strange, car must have a twin or someone backed out. Either way, enjoy that car.

Very nice. Enjoy in good health!

Is it actually CPO? Or just Pre-owned? Never heard of Porsche putting a CPO warranty on a car with that many miles.
