Wouldn't this make 991.2 a relatively short facelift cycle?

I did hear the same thing about a year ago. We also heard that the .2 GTS was going to be a 2017 model. Nothing yet.

VW scandal is having an impact. Audi leaving motorsports, 960 FeFi delayed and perhaps extended .2 cycle longer than planned and delayed 992.

Who knows. Its all speculation.

Let's see... 993.2 (Variocam) was 96-98, 3 model years. 996.2 (3.6, headlights, etc.) was 2002-2004, so 3 model years. 997.2 (9A1, PDK) was 2009-2012.5, so 3.5 model years.

So if 991.2 (9A2, ugly engine grill ) only lasted 17-18 that would indeed be short.

In other "rumors", I heard they're discontinuing sales of the 911. They're just making another sedan or SUV and putting a "911" badge on one of those. The 911 name itself will sell it.

2012-2018. 7 years for the 991 generation sounds about right. I can't imagine more than 8.

The next 911 or 992 will also be a hybrid turbo model like in the 918 Spyder! Technology makes its way down but what a complicated mess it will be especially when it comes to repairs in the future! I am sure it will improve fuel economy and be stupid fast but when is enough enough! I do believe in progress but it sure seems like driving involvement and actual driving enjoyment has been lost to always trying to make everything faster and more fuel efficient...just my opinion.

Aren't all 991.2 cars model year 2017 in the US?

I had figured the 992 wouldn't be here until model year 2020, and I wouldn't expect that to hit the streets much earlier than mid-2019 or much later than late 2020. That would give the 991.2 three full model years, 2017-2019, and maybe the first part of 2020. I base that only on prior release cycles.

I selfishly hope the new TT is a hybrid so mine becomes the last of an era. It won't matter much though as I intend to rack up the miles.
