Default 981 Cayman S to 991.2 Base?

Hi Forum
Traded my 981 for a luxury SUV and now miss the joy a small sports car!
Not a huge fan of the new 718s, so pondering two choices:

1) 2015 981S Boxster thats a new leftover:
-it's a bit of an odd build though, PDK, PSE, 20" classics, Sport Chrono, Bose and that's about it. No nav, no 14 way, not even the convenience package (so no heated seats or two way hvac)
-dealer won't budge and is at 65k

2) 2017 991.2 just off the boat
-specs: PDT, PSE, Sport Chrono, ventilated seats, Bose, glass sunroof, 20" S wheels, and a few other goodies. Sticker 108.5, Selling Price 102.5.

plan with either is to get a simple SUV (Honda CRV or the equivalent) for icky days...but to try to drive it as much as I can.

any opinions on "curtain 1" vs "curtain 2" as well as the specs on the 991.2 and the selling price would be incredibly welcomed!

thanks!!!!!

Where do you live and how will you use it?

Sunny So Cal (or other) with beaches and twisty roads and autocross - Boxster.

Daily commuter in less than perfect weather - Carrera

I just traded my '12 Cayman S for a loaded CPO '13 Carrera S and couldn't be happier. Original MSRP was $130k, got it for $77k. Did a similar deal for my wife's Panamera a few years ago. I think CPO is the way to go.

+1 on CPO. I think someone recently posted a CPO GTS for $108k in the HFS thread, which I would do over a .2 base.

I found a great deal on a '12 C2S and now my mother is looking at CPO Macan/Cayman Turbos.

That's a Macintosh and Valencia comparison if there ever was one. All depends on what you want out of the car. Cheaper, lower performing, but NA convertible, or more expensive, much higher performing turbo hardtop. Only you can answer that.

I'd take the .2 Carrera, but that's me. After owning a 981 and 991 simultaneously for 18 months, I found that I liked the 991 more.

I just picked up my cpo 4 GTS for 104.5k. I was considering the .2 in a similar price range but just felt I was getting more for my money out the GTS at that price.

The 991 will be better as a DD sports car that can be fun on weekends and canyon runs, and the Boxster/Cayman would be a better weekend and canyon toy that can be a DD.

Also, can you pick up a cheaper Boxster/Cayman weekend car that's fairly depreciated and keep the SUV? Might minimize your losses - thinking mostly of the SUV - and still get the fun you're after.

thanks all!

ace37: yes i could! found a 2015 boxster (not s) but is <500 miles, 49k and was 72k sticker (has all the right goodies)

CPO: now that i've seen the 991.2 vs the 991.1 it would be hard! practical me wants to say yes but i don't think i could.

.
In feel and impression yes, in performance reality, no. My 991S is faster and better in the canyons than my 981S was, even though the 981 felt more visceral.
