Transmission issue new 991.2
So, picked up my brand new 991.2 yesterday. Very fun. But I feel there is certainly an issue with the gear box (or something). If anybody with a MT 991.1 or 991.2 can comment, that would great.
At speeds below 30 miles per hour or so (likely because the engine is quiet enough to hear it), there is a very noticeable "CLUNK" sound coming from the engine conpartment whenever I engage OR disengage the clutch under load (i.e., when accelerating and moving up the gears, or decelerating and moving down the gears). When not under load (i.e., traveling at constant velocity) engaging and disengaging the clutch does not make the sound.
It almost feels like the transmission is "loose" (which is obviously insane). SOMETHING seems loose. It kinda sounds like the sound linkage very occasionally makes. But louder. I can prevent the sound from happening if I take my foot off the accelerator and count to "one Mississippi" before engaging the clutch.
Anyway, I've been driving manuals for 25 years. My GTI does NOT do this. Engaging and disengaging the clutch is a silent affair.
Anyone have experience with this? Do I need to take this into the dealer? Otherwise, the car is remarkably silent.

Doesn't sound right to me. I'd stop by the dealership, pick the shop foreman up and take him for a ride.

shouldn't do that....I have owned numerous Mts and have never had a clunk noise problem like this...however, just recently porsche replaced my whole pdk transmission because it was not functioning.....and everything started with a mild clunk noise in my transmission and ended up as a major repair. check my post for more info.

I read your original post yesterday. Congrats, and your C4 looks great. I also have a 991.2 C4 7MT, but experienced no such noises in mine. Definitely needs to be looked at by the dealership.
Unrelated, I think that you mentioned being happy with the base 20's (in your previous post). The base wheels in the C4 are 19's and don't look like the ones you have. Yours look very nice however.

My wife, whose daily driver is a 997.2 with MT, drove my car the other day for the first time and mentioned a clunk. While I haven't noticed the clunk myself, I have always thought that my 1/2 and 2/3 shifts weren't very smooth. I'll check it out again tomorrow and report back.

I picked up my 7 speed MT C2 last Monday, from 1st gear to 2nd gear, if you shift around/above 3000rpm, it's definitely not "smooth". Other than that, everything seems very normal on mine, but I have only 325km now.
If you are not sure what it is, always take it to the dealer and let them have a look or at least, explain to you what's the cause if there's nothing wrong.

If you have the Sports Chrono Package, your problem may be related to the Rev Matching feature.
Does the "clunk" occur when you've selected either Sports or Sports Plus modes? IMO, it shouldn't because, Rev Matching is engaged. Although Porsche advertises that rev match affects down shifting, it's my understanding it's in operation on up shifts as well.
Just something else you may want to play around with.

I hear a pronounced mechanical click during down shifting the PDK in manual mode. Up shifts are silent.
Checked with dealer and supposedly it's normal.
Others care to disagree?

I took my car to the dealer and they told me it was normal. I drove two brand new cars both c4 one had the clunk and the other didn't.

I take back what I wrote before . . . What you just write is the discouraging statement. How can this be normal!!?? Particularly as the other car doesn't have it. Uhg!!
