Sport exhaust backfiring and farting
#61
Oh come on guys... It's too quiet, It's too fartey, I need aftermarket exhaust, I need to mod PSE to my car, I need NA 911. You guys can be like a bunch of picky women (I'm sorry to sound sexist to all of the ladies here)
It sounds freaking awesome! Even my wife thinks it is super cool and her M6 absolutely roars
If you don't have it you probably just want it and If you do have it and don't like it you probably will never be satisfied just freaking turn it off!

All I will say is the only way I buy a Porsche in the future without PSE is if I have a plan to add aftermarket headers & cats and/or Sport exhaust.

When I am driving around town, i keep the car in regular mode with the PSE ON. No crackles. If i'm driving it on backroads where I am frequently downshifting/upshifting, i keep it in sport mode. The crackle sounds awesome when you're getting on it. Mind you... driving in Sport mode all the time on "local road" speeds absolutely destroys your fuel economy.

For those with SE let me repeat. You can have the sound of the sport exhaust without the farting by doing this;
Engage the SE, DO NOT engage sport or sport+. In areas with winding roads suitable to exercise the car, engage the sport or sport+ and fart your way to nirvana.:roll eyes:
As for me, when or if the 991.2GT3RS is announced hopefully next summer, I will be an early taker.

Why can't I have both Porsche? How about a backfire delete option?
(One reason I avoid the standard mode is the delayed throttle cutoff response. Cruise along at 40 mph and rapidly lift off the throttle. My car takes approximately a second before any deceleration begins. I actually believe this is a major safety issue. Seems to be slightly better in Sport or Sport Plus modes).

I don't get this on any of my cars, all three of which have PSE. If I have sport mode on and PSE off and I let off the gas at medium to high revs, I get an instantaneous continuation of the rev sound and then no backfiring or burping on the way down. It sounds totally different than if I had PSE on. Sport on/PSE off. Problem solved. You just loose the rumble at lower RPMs.
