Default 991.2 pitted windshield

Is anyone else noticing a pitted windshield? My 911 has less than 600 miles and already has what looks like a windshield full of tiny pockmarks? Can't be normal?

I have the same thing as well along with my Porsche salesman who just got his. It's like thousands of overspray marks that won't come off. My Porsche service manager is checking with Porsche but no word yet. Only noticeable when the sun hits it in a certain direction. Annoying to say the least

This happened on my 981. Whatever my detail shop did, it fixed the problem... I don't know if they claybarred the glass or used some kind of aggressive cleaning agent, but the speckles (which were everywhere, and completely untouchable with the usual paper-towel-and-Windex routine) never came back.

Thank you for the replies, kind of bummed as I would not expect this to happen so soon. Looks like my rear window may have some tiny pockmarks as well. I'll bring her in tomorrow, but not expected much from Porsche. Sucks.

Silly question - are you sure it's not sap droplets from trees? Does the texture feel raised (rather than lowered) where the marks are? This is a common problem here (washington state), so I thought I'd ask. Every so often I carefully clean the glass with (non-moisturizing) Purell and a shop towel to remove it.

Edit: Noah, given that we live in the same area, I assume that your marks were also sap.

+1 on sap. No way you'd get pits on the rear from impact unless you drove through a gravel storm.

Clay bar for windshields will do the trick.

Was hoping the same thing, but can feel indentations. We'll see what they say tomorrow morning.

If you track your 911 the windshield pits very easy. You can put the clear plastic wrap on but that pits also and you can remove it and do it again. Or do what happened to me, I track about twice a month, and I am now on my 3rd windshield due to cracks. A Least insurance pay for them 100% no question asked.

No pits on mine with 2000 miles including a 1500 mile road trip, but did get a rock chip that was repairable. No doubt about that one as it hit the windshield really hard. Kicked up by an oncoming motorcycle.

+1 the glass Porsche uses is very 'soft' and pits easily ... you can clean it (somewhat) with Griots glass polish and one of their orbital polishers

My windshield and side windows look like they were oversprayed but when rubbing on the window I don't feel anything. It's almost as if it's within the glass. Again, my salesman has the same thing on his 991.2 as does another customer who picked his up shortly after mine.

Insurance knows you track your car and covered the damages? I was under the impression anything happens on the track is on your own dime unless of course you take a policy with specialized carriers who charge 5 to 10+k/yr just for tracking, in addition to regular insurance. Am I with the wrong insurance provider?

Just returned from the dealership, $200.00 detail later and looks new. Apparently it was sap, which needs to be removed immediately or will become permanent. Glad I brought her in this morning.
