Default Porsche Hatchback

If Porsche built their version of a Golf R or Audi RS3, would you buy it? Personally, I think it would be the hottest hatch, especially if it was closer to to the size of a Golf R. They are already using turbo flat 4's in the Cayman. I think it would be awesome with 4-wheel drive. Imagine a Porsche Hatchback GTS?

I'm sure it would be a great vehicle but I'm under the impression that the factory is doing all it can just to keep up with the demand on its current models.

There's been talk of a 2 door Panamera. I'm sure you'll see that or a two door Macan. They're going to be expanding the model line in the near future. They have big plans.

I was thinking more on the lines of a 4-door hatch, like the Golf R. The Golf R is in high demand. In reviewing a lot of threads, Porsche owners seem to really like the Golf GTI/R or Audi RS3. I think Porsche would do well with their version.

The 4 cylinder turbos are not getting much love in the reviews I have seen and read. It's too bad how turbos and emission standards have destroyed engine character.

Bingo. It is no secret that a lot of Porsche parts are rebranded VW parts meant to horizontally integrate into the whole company.

Porsche 4dr hot hatch would be cool. Along lines of new Ford Focus RS -could even compete in the WRC. Wouldn't that be interesting.

You mean a Macan on some aftermarket lowering springs?

I agree. That is why I purchased a 991.1 GTS with a 7MT. But, this would be a new car with no real heritage so the community would accept a turbo. Look at the Macan. All their vehicles are turbo. As long as the car performed and it was a hot hatchback, I think the Porsche community would look at it, especially as a DD.

No. I see the Macan as a SUV. A very HOT SUV but still an SUV. This would be their version of a Golf R or Audi RS3. You can lower the Macan but it's still not a hatchback. It is too big.

Exactly. I saw a Nitrous Blue Ford Focus RS at my local dealer. It sold for $5,000 over sticker. I do not think Porsche would have any problems selling this car. The only question would be do they have the capability to mass produce this car?

I was in your boat until I test drove the new 718. Amazing and it sounded 90% like a flat six, no joke!

I guess if you like Subaru's

"Porsche sacrificed a lot for a few more MPG ... New engine ripped out the heart and soul out of what this car is all about ..."

Flat 6 to 4cy single turbo engine?? How can anything good come of that

I would totally be in for a small hatch.

And I drove the 718 too, and it sounded great. Not the same, but definitely not a Subaru. There's a lot of brouhaha over nothing. The 718S is better than the old boxster in every other way (steering, handling, power at all speeds..,.), and the sound is subjective anyway.
