Awesome, thanks guys. That definitely helps. I'll definitely look into putting it on a credit card too. Not to hijack my own thread, but I'm not opposed to buying the car from an out of state dealer if I can get better pricing. I'm in the Denver area, and there are two Porsche dealers in the area...both smaller operations or combined with other marques. Anyone have any recommendations for a good dealer to reach out to? If this is covered in another thread, just point me in the right direction. Thanks again!

I get the allure of "ordering" a car to spec but once you have your options in mind you should still search dealer's' inventory, you never know it might be in someone's stock, just waiting. You get to skip the foreplay and masturbation and go right to the money shot then no need for the "I just got my commission #" or my car is on "X" ship posts.

I ultimately decided that too. Closest dealer is 15 min from my house, which is where I ordered my car and will have it serviced there. Back in October there were no 911.2s around yet so not possible to shop around. Now is possible.

I didn't have to put any money down on a custom ordered European Delivery car. No VAT either. Also got 5% off even though they had to fork out $3k for the European Delivery option.
I intend to negotiate the same arrangement with my 991.2 next year.
It was my first Porsche and my first experience with this dealership.

Hello everyone,
Still pretty new around here, but doing a lot of research and learning the lay of the land with Porsche's.
Did a search but didn't find anything, at least in the initial results. I'm trying to do as much research as I can before placing an order for a 991.2. Haven't decided if I'm going with a base car or an S, but will be ordering rather than taking a car from dealer stock.
My question is...what is the deposit amount due to place an order? Is there a set amount required, or is it a percentage of purchase price, etc?
Just curious what to expect.

I wanted to pay a deposit. Gives me the sense that the purchase and negotiated terms are confirmed.

My deposit was a percentage of the price, and came out around $7k. I knew it was high, but didn't care as much about deposit as price. My deposit is fully refundable, but I have no inclination to back out, so why not take the credit card points?
I was fully prepared to go with an out of state dealer, but my local stepped up to the plate once they knew I had better options. Living close to Atlanta for PEC Delivery gave me lots of options.
